Woo-hoo!
You
can
Now I'm trying the AVHIT MLX 6規. This is a Raptor. It's an mc imagine cast reel. The
The MC Cast incorporates the magnetic drive system, so you don't have to use your thumb.
So we're going to try this out.
It's spooled with 50 pound test, big game, it's on a Daiwa Emblem 11 foot.
I like that rod because it's a dirty 70 split, so it feels like a one piece.
This is a big caster, notice that the guides are uniform, so you can actually use it for
both spinners and conventionals.
Okay, any time you throw your lid, you got to get something sharp, clean up the burrs.
See that?
Look at all the burrs in there.
That's going to cut into the line, and unless if you want to kill somebody by smashing it
in the head with a piece of lid or punching it through the windshield, I would suggest
any time you're practicing or even at the beach when there's people around, especially
when there's people around, you know, the lid can cut the line very, very easily, so
you have to burr it out like that and make sure it's nice and smooth on the inside before
you toss it.
Okay?
It's a little safety thing, because even though there might be no people if you toss it that
way, if you're going back and if the line is going to get cut by sharp lid, it can release
going back or sideways and people can get hurt.
So always throw out your lid.
Okay, this is an Avid MXL 6 slash 4, it's a Raptor 2 speed with MC cast control.
So this is a 2 speeder, so what you want to do is to set your drag, see this is free
spool, up here is full on strike, so what you do is from free spool, you go directly
to see that knob here, that's to strike.
So you go to strike and you pull your line, figure out what it feels like and from your
technique control here, you can make it a little tougher, it goes and clicks, you can
see it like that and you know, after a while, you don't need to get a spring scale because
most fishermen kind of know what species of fish they fish for and what kind of pool
it is, so that's about right there, so we'll set it back to free spool.
Now the thing is, you don't want to change this when you're going back and forth, you
only want to change the tight there when it's at your preset strike setting, all right?
You don't want to fool around with this anymore once you have this set up, all right?
Okay, I'm just going to do a simple overhead cast, all right, you can see the blue already.
Okay, just toss that, notice the blue is starting to show through because that's the backing,
this blue braid, that's Jerry Brom braid, it's the backing, so what we're going to do is
we're going to attach the line counter onto this, all right?
Pull it around like so, turn the unit on, there, okay, let's see how much line we can
retrieve out of this, that's good, last time I did this with my avid, it buried into the
ground, I had to walk up to the spot, you always want to keep tension on the line, that's
why I have my fingers here, because you want the line to go back very, very taut, if you
don't do it very, very taut, it's going to be loose here, the line can cut in and halfway
to your toss, it will snag and will stop short, you don't want to do that, actually it was
not a bad cast, it was just a simple overhead cast, I didn't put any, not much into it,
I'm just trying to sell just to get the feel of it, but I do like the avid reel, units
slightly smaller than mine, one smaller than mine just recently pulled up a 344 pound yellow
fin tuna off Mexico, that was last month, so it kind of gives you an idea of what these
little things can do, I love these reels, it says I went 82.2 meters, that's not too
bad just for a simple overhand, let's see now, 82.2, let's see if this can catch it here,
that simple toss just went 82.2, that's not too bad, okay I'll try to pendulum cast, something
a little bit more for distance, that's not too bad, that's not too bad, that's not too
bad, same thing, hot day today, we'll put on our line counter,
oh my, how can we keep looking at all of these?
Okay, showing my last one to be at 82.3, so let's just set this, here we go, now we're
at zero.
Alright, this one, yep, this was a pendulum swing, probably wasn't the prettiest, I had
to step away from my phone here because I didn't want to whack the heck out of it.
I mean I understand the pendulum swing but I'm not as good as those UK guys far from
it, just trying it out, see if I get farther than 82.3 meters this time.
Last week when I did this with the avid, man I had such a bad cold, not 100% over it but
pretty much, bowling last night didn't help, should have just stayed home, not bad for
a little readal, I love this thing, here she comes, okay, what do I got here, I got 87
exactly, so I went a couple yards further, not much, take a look at that, it's 87, alright.
Okay, proper way to put your two piece rods together, this is a 30-70 which means it's
gonna, when you put it together, the butt end is 30, the long piece is 70, but it feels
like a one-piece, that's why I like these, what you do when you use these neoprene straps,
the neoprene adhesive side goes in, alright, goes in like that, so what you're gonna do
is you have to fuzzy side out, wrap it around, just put just the slightest amount of tension,
that's it, that's all you have to do, I love these things, alright, oh, try it one more
time, okay, this part in, like so, fuzzy side out, just a little bit of tension, see, perfect.
