From Miami, Florida, United States of America, this is Traveling with Robert Tico.
Well hello and welcome.
My name is Robert Morales, Robert Tico, to my friends.
And as every week I take you flying, sailing or riding with me in my travels.
Today we start where we left off in the last episode, which focused on Miami's Lidljavana and South Beach.
And as we returned from the beach to Miami, we passed through downtown Miami, of course.
And in the heart of downtown, by the marina, there it is, Bayside Marketplace.
Bayside has shops, restaurants, live entertainment, and the main attraction, the boat tours.
We are going to take one of the boat tours that takes us by the homes of the rich and famous.
There is also Hard Rock Cafe.
And that's the Freedom Tower in Biscayne Boulevard, downtown Miami, built in 1925.
It was originally the Miami News, and then it was used in the 60s to process all the Cuban refugees that came fleeing the Castro regime.
And that's it, we are about to get on the boat. It's called the Island Queen, and that's the Fiesta, which is a party boat.
The Island Queen is going to take us along the houses of the rich and famous.
This is a view of Bayside Marketplace from the boat.
That's downtown Miami, about two and a half years ago, in 2006.
As I'm going to show you in the images at the end of this episode and the beginning of the next, that's downtown Miami.
This has changed rather drastically in the past two years.
A lot of building boom.
As you can see, a lot of buildings were being built at the time.
It's amazing what only two years can do to change the skyline of the city.
And here we are approaching the port of Miami.
These are all the cruise ships that sail to the Caribbean.
Miami is called the cruise capital of the world.
Here we can see some dolphins.
And it was a beautiful day. Everybody was along the bay in their boats.
That's our sister ship, the Pink Lady.
And that's it. Everybody hanging out in their boats.
Beautiful spring day in Miami, Florida.
Yeah, this is the hub.
The white two-story home with the curtains and the red panels belongs to the Mexican singer Paulina Rubio.
We're going to play guys and dolls.
Okay, that's the life.
This is an aerial view of the area.
This island with the obelisk, that obelisk was built in honor of Henry Flagler,
which is considered the father of Miami.
The island lady. That's our other sister ship. There are three ships that do the same tour.
And we are on the island queen.
This is a rental property. You can have your next party there, weekend getaway, $3,500 a night.
It's been featured in many music videos, faster shoots, TV shows, and movies.
This is the second island home of Chicago gangster Al Capone.
Mr. Capone's first island home located on the island of Al Capone.
That's our ship.
And we continue along these oldest little islands.
Very, very private islands.
That's another ship, another boat that comes out of Bayside.
And that's the home of Cristina Sara Leghi.
Of course, it's a Spanish talk show host. She's considered the Spanish opera.
That's Julio Iglesias mansion.
And that's the home of Vanilla Ice. Remember?
Ice, ice, baby.
And that house was used in Miami Vice. That's where Don Johnson used to live.
And that's the home of Philip Frost, the founder of Ivax Corporation.
This home was used in the movie The Specialist.
And that's the home of Shaquille O'Neal, basketball player.
And, incidentally, this day was Shaquille O'Neal's son's birthday.
So we've got a little glimpse right there.
Oh, thank you.
Probably the next house is the oldest house on the island.
This is the home of Shusha. She's a Brazilian singer and she does children programs.
And that's the mansion of Emilio Angloria Stefanoff, Miami's home machine.
And right here we're approaching on our left is South Beach, the tip of South Beach.
And that's a Montes restaurant.
And Fisher Island. Fisher Island, as I mentioned in the previous episode,
is the only island in all this little archipelago that is only accessible by ferry.
No bridge.
And some of the famous people who live in Fisher Island are Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey,
Fiti Paldi, Sofia Loren, Susana Jimenez, and even the British royal family owns property in this,
which is one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in the United States.
And that's it.
We're approaching the end of our journey as we get closer to downtown Miami.
On our next episode, I'm going to take you on a cruise on the Carnival Triumph,
on Caribbean cruise.
But as we wind this down, I'm going to leave you with an image of downtown Miami
as of 2008, the date of our cruise and you can see the difference.
Until next time, thank you for watching and have a good time.
