My name is Sean Mark Jahanis and I've been skateboarding for about 10 years now and I'm
21 years old.
I saw friends at school doing it and I just picked it up from there and never left it
alone.
Who were your favourite skaters back then and who's your favourite skater now?
Back then probably Malin and today Tras Aslan.
Not much difference, not much difference from the start.
Just skateboarding in general, I mean any skateboarder that's out there that I can see
pushing themselves, that inspires me to keep pushing, that's what it's all about.
Two or three years ago when I got an invite to Dam Am in Amsterdam, the first one, that
changed everything for me, things got real after that.
I didn't do well the first time but the second time I got asked to come back, did a bit better.
I saw a different level out there and it made me see what the next level is.
So with two of my favourite skaters, that's also in there, Munis Omnani, Seva Krikov,
those guys kill it man.
They call guys and they really push me to skate, I mean in that contest I had to force
myself to just focus and progress and stick to my game plan.
Is there anything else that you're passionate about besides skating?
Music?
Yeah, that's been part of my life since I was born.
My father was a musician, I mean I was just kind of born into it, my whole family.
What world do you have to play in?
I see it going big, honestly.
I mean I'll look at an international level, I mean they've got the resources and everything
we unfortunately don't but when I look at the talent down here, I came back with this
whole theory, like in South Africa we watch these BDX videos and all these international
videos and it kind of looks like the skateboarding scene is moving away without us but it's actually
not, like everyone has the talent, they picked up a board the same way we did, it's just
the mindset really, like anybody can go as far as they want with anything, not let anything
get you down.
When you watch a video, I mean I'm full victim to this, like when you're younger you watch
a video and you're like Jesus I'll never get to that level, you know what I mean?
They thought the same thing when they watched that video.
Any other skateboarders that are better than you, like you can obviously see if you're
just starting out this guy, you can't kickflip but this guy is doing like 540 stuff and you're
obviously getting intimidated but don't worry about that, just keep skating for yourself
and just stay on your board and keep it up in your game.
