It is a time to remember.
Remember the sacrifices that servicemen and their families have to make when it comes to conflict.
Also remember our civilian population because they are affected by war as well.
If you look at what's going on in Syria just now there's a lot of civilians over there working through a very rough time.
What remembrance means to me is the hope, if we keep remembering these things and reflecting on them, my hope is that at some point along the line that war will cease and we'll stop doing these terrible things to one another as human beings.
I am Will Bout, I'm a retired soldier. I served for 16 years as a regular with the Royal Scots and Good Guards.
During that time I wore many hats, as you do in the army. I was medically trained, I was a signals communication specialist but the best job of all was being a main battle tank commander.
I commanded chieftain and challenger and main battle tank. During my career I saw active service in Northern Ireland and also the First Gulf War 1990-91.
At the end of the day I left Coatbridge in 1977 and joined the Scots and Good Guards, started off in Catterick, done my basic training, loved the life.
The social side of the military is amazing. You won't find friendship or comradeship like that anywhere else in the world.
You watch war films on the television but you don't get the full effect. War is very dirty. It tastes terrible, that sounds strange but it does.
It smells terrible and it changes you as a person and anybody that comes back from war and claims that they haven't been affected by it in any way, they're in denial.
It does have a great impact on soldiers for what they have to witness and what they have to do sometimes because it's not an easy job.
Although you're well trained for it and at the time you're doing it, you're almost just going through the motions.
I know that might sound a bit hard but it's afterwards. When the adrenaline stops and you start to reflect on what you've just been through and that's when soldiers tend to go and seek help.
Not just soldiers, sailors and airmen as well, all service personnel.
They remember reflecting on the sacrifices that service personnel do make for their country. Some pay the ultimate price, some come back badly injured or seriously mental health problems.
You just reflect on the horrors of war, it isn't nice and my hope is that if we keep remembering and reflecting then some day war will cease and we'll stop doing terrible things to each other.
Thank you for watching.
