He proved to us all it was possible to jump 60 foot.
There's been a few setbacks, it's not like you ever would see the dirt jumps.
I did spend all my money, everything I had was to zero.
So I guess this idea of these dirt jumps started years ago, probably 14 or 15.
The thought came from me making jumps in the neighbourhood and could never get as far as I wanted.
We're here now, 26 years old, and have the dream set up.
Jude just knew like ever since he did the triple flip that Gypsy would be keen to be involved in this project.
He's here for the same reason as Jude just because they both love it.
Known Jude, I know about six years probably I think.
I'm not really a professional, I just got a day job and stuff, but when Jude wants to do big stuff like this I seem to be the one that helps him out.
We're just two Kiwi BMX's that get along very well and we have the same mindset and we feed off each other.
He's keen to push the limits and he will send it and I know he will send it.
We wanted a training facility where we could send something into a phone pit, turn around, drop off the other side and do it for real and land it.
We actually planned this set up in particular over the last year.
This whole plan kind of started in December when I bought the containers and we put them up. It took us eight days actually to put them up so it was quite a neat feat.
Now it's pretty much exactly the same circumstances for the dirt jumps we've had a time frame to work to and we're here now a couple days out from finally getting to shoot these bad boys.
So the first jump we have is a beautiful 60 foot double. The purpose of this jump is to do a bunch of tricks I'm comfortable with.
The second is to just boot it as high as we can possibly go and really get some good airtime to control all these new revolutionary tricks that we've been coming up with in the phone pit.
I guess the inspiration came for wanting to even go that far and the knowledge came from even wanting to jump.
That sort of distance was from Dane Seales because he proved to us all it was possible to jump 60 foot.
A project like this when you have a five day window to get your filming done, there's a lot of different variables involved in the success of the project.
The previous weeks leading into the actual shoot has been quite wet. It's really thrown a spanner in the works as to the deadline and getting it done.
Yeah, Jed said the other day it's not like, it's not a setback, it's just a challenge and I guess it just shows in the end like how badly do they really want it.
Well this morning Langlands has been preparing his jump in Cambridge for us to go up in session. So we've just driven 40 minutes down the road to Paul Langlands yard.
Langlands is literally half the size of the jumps on the Franklin farm so it's a pretty cool warm up.
Yo!
After a really hard day driving in Sessioning Langers yard, we come back and this place transforms from mush for now.
Yeah! No moisture!
I've got my dad's truck and that should pack this whole thing in beautifully.
I'm just testing out the four wheel drive of my dad's truck.
I don't know who let him drive but it's happening. Looks like he's trying to jump.
Tonight we're going to be able to jump the first set which is awesome. Pretty excited to use the speed off the roller.
Solar airs. Just padding up for our first session with the crew on the new setup.
Yo boy!
Woohoo!
Amazingly perfect job well done at 60 foot.
I think that's the world record. 360 is actually the trick in BMX that got me pumped on the sport.
And to be able to take that trick to one of my ultimate dream jumps and do it first go, that's the icing on the cake.
Biggest floor bar I've ever done.
What? Good dirt the officer. I think it's a good court game over for a day.
Woke up this morning, put stuff but nothing into the work, can't fix.
We decided to beg God and heed the dirt so we can have solid ground to fly.
So how about today? We just do paper oxes, good luck.
Still bogging out major on that landing. Can't get enough speed for the second jump unfortunately so now we're going to hit the first jump.
Come up with a few more world records and just have a ball doing it.
Another world record of Superman backing.
Backflip Superman the 60 foot, it felt pretty incredible. I'd love to really stretch one out and do it really big but it's really scary.
Pretty pumped day, not many days of mouldy gets to front flip to 65 foot.
That is another world record, yeah.
Four hard days in the office, definitely not time to change the day job.
I will say though that was a hit if I ever did see one or feel one.
Yeah we're only in the testing stages and we're already breaking records so this is perfect.
I'm off on tour now around the world and then I will be back to finish this amazing mission with my incredible friends.
After six months on the road, 15 countries, 37 Nitro Sickus Live shows, over 100,000 kilometres of travel around the world.
We're back here on the Franklin farm to conclude the dirt dogs project.
Whenever Jed's been back from Nitro he's been here digging something or stacking something with the digger and pretty much the whole thing's full now.
There's not much room left to fill out.
We built a little roll-in to an eight pack, our left hip, right hip step down, double-double.
Pretty cool to warm up for your sessions on the big dogs.
Big jumps have had six months of hardening so they've been very well weathered, made them all a bit bigger to suit the speed.
Yeah, you're just ready to hit some big jumps and have some fun with the boys.
Jumping two dirt jumps of that size in a row feels incredible.
Never thought of my wildest dreams of putting anything like this together.
And yeah, we managed to jump the first one and do a couple of tricks on the second one.
It feels very good.
The special thing about this place has been a lot of people involved in creating it, a lot of local businesses,
and having a lot of really good friends and family around that help your dreams come true.
I think it's a good way to end the project with a hangi that my dad's cooked.
It's pretty cool.
All my real good mates and my family's here, and this is sick.
We're just all finishing off on a high note, keeping it kewy, keeping it real.
This is how we do it.
Some massive big record wheel-breaking stuff just went down and then here we are all just chilling out afterwards,
having a couple beers and having a hangi.
Not much better times than that, you know?
It's not often I feel content, and right now I feel pretty content.
I'm safe, I'm happy, got a smile on my face, and walking away with a couple of records.
Thank you for watching.
