Hi and welcome to the testing phase of the Rectalux 3FF Anamorphic Adapter.
My name is John Barlow and I'll be guiding you through the tests over a number of parts.
In this part 1 I will be pairing the Anamorphic with a 70-150mm zoom lens.
Okay before we start we need to zoom in and set the focus, which I've just done and zoom
out you can see it's holding the focus and the acid test is if we zoom in again are we
still focused and it appears that we are. This is a quick focus pull between 2 meters and
infinity and there's very little mumps to be seen here. I'm traveling quite like today I've
just got the monopod, the lenses and the camera, no matte box, no french flag, no follow focus gear,
no neutral density filters. Now here's the local attraction it's a pirate ship made by local
artists. From bits and pieces that get washed up on the shore from Liverpool Bay and this
particular ship's called the Black Pearl and here's a close-up zoom and you can see a holes
focus that's another little test. Here we've got some water sports here and we've got a water
sport community. Well after a hard day at the office what better than jump on your jet bike,
jet ski and get wet. Complete with some sandy moire down the bottom there. Looks like that guy's done
his turn. I'm not sure how they handle that maybe it's a group purchase and we all have a go.
Here we've got a lighthouse and a seagull. Apparently the lighthouse is made of cast iron it's very
old and now we've got an Italian restaurant quickly followed by Spanish and a Mexican one so it's
Saludos amigos. In turn reflection testing using the zoom behind the anamorphic as I zoom in and
out you can see the elements are moving creating all these interesting reflections. I didn't have an
ND so I might have cooked the sun a bit too much. I'm down at something like F32 here but it wasn't
enough. I'll do some more formal flare testing later on but I just thought I'd throw this one in.
I'm trying to figure out what's this promotion looks like. You can have a pint of cider for
£2.40 that's about four dollars American. Now the light cinema experience are you experienced? Have
you ever been experienced? Well that's the place to have it. You can see I'm getting some reflection
down there. French flag will get rid of that one. Watching a movie in 3D. Yeah those crazy glasses.
It's a famous picture. There's one in every corner. Let's hopefully pay the taxes this year.
There again a French flag warning down the bottom. This is a follow focus test on the lady in the
grey top. It was done on the fly so no practice. Now these guys remind me of the movie E.T. If
the look of E.T. then they're probably 30 years too late. Ouch. Yeah let's ask. Hey we got a pink
sky. Excuse me while I touch the pink sky. And we got some cycles and another shot of the Italian
restaurant. What's the matter you? Hey we got a bus. It's Avon calling with a nice reflection of the
sunset. Now this guy looks as though he should be having a pit bull terrier on a leash but it looks
more like a rat. A rat on a leash. No it's a dog. There's a place to dump your money. If you feel
lucky do you feel lucky. And we got a bus. It's a Mexican bus. There again we're going to do some
more anamorphic flares later. It's too bright for those. And we don't have any blue ghosts
but what we do have is Wi-Fi on a bus. Cross River actually it goes under the river through
the Mersey Tunnel. Here's a night time shot.
And again more night time stuff. We're quickly running out of light so it's time to wrap up
this part one test and leave you with that one. Red Deluxe. Stretch your imagination.
