I just love going to the botanical gardens in Norfolk, Virginia.
I am sure that they are just as beautiful elsewhere, but I have grown accustomed to
this garden.
I love it here.
I go for many different reasons, to shoot pictures, to be sure, but also to give myself
permission to entertain any thought I wish, from the most basic to the bizarre.
I wonder, for example, why have a lotto where one person wins three hundred million dollars?
I'll answer that later.
Wouldn't it be better to design a lotto where three hundred people win one million dollars
each?
I guess it is all about greed.
As for me, I sometimes play the what if game.
What if I had all the money in the world, what would I do?
This is my answer.
If I did, if I had all the money in the world, I would want one million dollars in the bank.
I know where I can get six percent interest, and sixty thousand dollars a year in interest
is more than enough for me to live comfortable.
My biggest expense is traveling, to do stories, to shoot videos, to shoot pictures.
I do not have to impress anyone, and I know who I am, so I don't pretend to be who I'm
not.
This is probably the perfect car for me at this point in my life.
I would get a Lincoln MKZ hybrid.
That's about forty thousand dollars.
I would have three very modest homes.
One in Jamaica, about fifty thousand dollars US.
One in Virginia Beach, about a hundred seventy thousand dollars.
One in Atlanta, about eighty thousand dollars.
I would rent the one in Atlanta.
Clothing, about ten thousand dollars, which would last me forever.
You see, I would buy practical clothes like cargo pants and boots.
And I would get some more working cameras for about thirty thousand dollars.
So you see, if I had access to all the money in the world, all I would really need is about
a one million four hundred thousand dollars.
That's it.
I don't need three hundred million dollars.
Do you?
Really?
