Alright folks, so talk about the beginning of primary flight man, how the concept came about, first your name and how the concept came about.
First my name?
Uh, uh, primary flight motherfuckers.
I've been involved in a few projects where people were doing mural productions, but nothing on the scale of primary flight here in Miami.
I think this is just an incredibly ambitious project, and it says a lot about the resourcefulness of graffiti people and the legitimacy of the art form.
It started off very grassroots, but now there's sponsors and people from the city getting involved and very well established property owners.
From what I heard, the city last year tried to approach some of the building owners and say, hey you didn't get permission for a mural, but there was enough of a public support for the project that they pretty much squashed all the dissent because there's so much enthusiasm for it.
It really is, like, a collaborative environment.
You know, how we're going to approach it, what colors we're going to use, what's it going to say, you know, what's it going to have, you know, the whole thing is really, it kind of, some of it's planned out ahead of time, but a lot of it is sort of figured out on the spot.
It says, if I told you a story, would you listen to what I had to say? The voice in my head, no me deja descansar en la vida. So aquí va la cuenta, hace mucho tiempo nació una tradición de mi gente callejera.
De la tierra somos como las cenizas volando en el viento a un destino extraño. La noche está llena de color.
I think that if you really believe in something enough, no matter what it is, and you're willing to work your ass off and pay your dues and kind of eat shit for a while, for the love of whatever it is you believe in, eventually it will pay off, you know.
And I think that's important. I mean, I guess I could be an example of that, although I don't think I'm anywhere near the level I want to be in my life or my career.
I feel like I'm just getting started really, you know, even after 20 years. I'm just getting started. I've only started kind of putting my emphasis and my energy into doing it as an end to a means instead of doing it just for the sake of doing it, you know.
So in that aspect, I'm still a rookie, you know, even though I've been on the street doing it forever, or at least in graffiti terms forever, you know.
But yeah, you know, I mean, beyond graffiti, beyond art, beyond anything, you know. If you love something enough and you really believe in it, you know, that's what your calling is in life.
And you know, you really like derive like a gratification and a sense of worth out of something that I think it's worth doing with all of your everything.
And if you work hard enough and you stick to it, eventually, you know, it'll come around full circle. And I think that's the message I want to communicate to kids.
That's a big
