Hi, I'm Tricia Feiglestan and I want to show you how to cat-n-hatify anybody using my Who's That Cat-n-Hat bookmark template on the iPad.
I'm using a free app called Brushes and it now has the ability to work in layers for free. Yay!
So I'm going to start out by getting a new project. I want to be vertical instead of horizontal. This is horizontal.
So I'm tapping vertical, choose create. You're going to be able to download my template from my website so I'm going to go find it here and import it.
The template has transparency in it and white on the edges and let's see. Looks like it's going to be a little small, but that's okay. I can always crap it when I'm done.
So the next thing I'm going to do is bring in the photo of a student and so this photo was not in front of a green screen. It doesn't have to be because I'm going to be able to match whatever color is behind the child.
I'm just placing it anywhere right now and I'm going to click accept because I can't really tell where to put it exactly yet because it came in over my template.
So I'm going to grab this layer and move it below the template. When I grabbed it, I was grabbing the three horizontal dashes on the right hand side.
Now I need to transform this layer and put it in the right place and size. So I'm going to use that gear, click transform, resize it.
Okay, so I'm going to click accept and I have one more layer to bring in. I'm going to bring in the little nose, the cat nose and place it over here.
Click accept. Okay, so my bookmark is not complete yet because the background is a little strange to be cut off like that right in the middle of the hat.
So I'm going to select the background layer, the photo layer. I'm going to make sure I'm on the brushes.
I'm going to click and hold until I've matched the background color. So now I'm going to rub that color into the background and it's going to go behind.
Let's look at the layers. It's going behind the template so it filled that template.
Now I can get really picky if I want to and do some better blending here where you can see it's a little scrubby in the background.
I could try some transparency and softly blend but I have to be really careful not to touch the photo.
Alright, when you like it hit gallery and then you're going to go put it in, share it to the photos and that's where you're going to crop it.
So here's what you did. You brought in the bookmark, you resized it, you matched the background and now you crop it.
And then you have a bookmark in time for Read Across America.
