Very similar parallels between serving in the military and being in this environment.
The camaraderie, the adrenaline, and really showing value to somebody.
When you show here, everybody's got an assignment, they're on a team, so it really replicates being in the military in that regard.
A friend of the family knew that I liked motorsports a lot and they were living in North Carolina and told me about it and I said, sure, I need a reason to go back to school.
Motorsports is something I enjoy, so I thought, let's do that.
This is actually my very first experience with vet motorsports, so I'm still learning all the ins and outs of what they're about,
but I learned about them from my professor, just a way of getting them hands-on, a different kind of rehab, something good for veterans to do.
A lot of these guys, they're great guys, they just want to help and they just want to be part of the team,
and they're all so grateful just to be here and just to be part of something again.
These guys, they go from being in the strictest competition in life to being in civilian life,
so to bring vets into our program and give them something to compete for and help them with,
it's something that I think is very beneficial.
We're losing 20 veterans a day to suicide, although this program does not solve that problem,
we feel that unique programs like this are able to address some of those issues by getting veterans out,
into civilian society, integrated into a positive environment, and making a difference in their lives.
It's a great opportunity, I'm really grateful to have it, and I just hope that more veterans can find out about it,
hear and experience what I'm experiencing.
Thank you.
