Don't you ever, don't you ever try to catch my hands
Don't you ever, don't you ever try to catch my hands
Don't you ever, don't you ever try to catch my hands
And my name is Jérôme, I'm 40 years old, this year I'm doing skateboarding.
This was my first board of the 19 ballets with my first pay.
Well, it always took me skateboarding, since I was a kid.
I have a Tonton with a plastic board, the last 70s, which is there, by the way.
I always have it.
And there is a very small drawing at my grandparents, I think I did it in every drawing.
On the back, on the back, standing.
But the first time, it was a bit off, it was at the best out of a friend, we did skateboarding.
And in the end, I don't know, it was too good.
I was on a board in my grandparents' house, I was motivated, I liked it.
I really wanted to do something, I was invited to a meal with my friends and parents.
I was a bit shy, it's like when you're a kid, you have a meal,
and they have a skateboarding board, they train, and they have a little descent,
maybe behind the garage, maybe behind the garage, there was a descent.
And I had fun going down, and it fascinated me all afternoon, I did only that, only that.
I remember one thing, it's at the Plaza Améry, in Tarnes.
Like, I was 12 years old, and I saw a guy jumping on top of it,
a bouquet of flowers, a garden, without a trample.
And that was the best part, I wanted to do it.
I saw the object, after I came to the park, we said it was a shitty board.
So I said to myself, shit, and I went to the shop, and I bought a skateboard for the first time.
I first asked for a skateboarding board for Christmas,
then I evolved, I made my first tricks with it.
I learned all by myself, in Hongkong.
100 people.
I used to live in a flat for Christmas, or skateboarding,
I think I was the only one in the village to skateboard.
So I learned all by myself how to tri-survise, to make my first hollies.
You see, I already tri-survised on my own, to skateboard.
And then, there was a underground parking lot, and every time I had a break,
I didn't take my board, I tried to make hollies, and I said, one more year to do it.
That's it.
But it's not enough.
It was my neighbor, when I was little, it was Jérôme Laird,
who made me ride a skateboard, and who made me skate a little bit.
So I tried to come back with skates, and he made me ride a bike too,
and he made me ride on skates.
And that's it, I've always had an image that was a bit like me.
And then, there was the Haudos Park, which was mounted, with the Meri.
A little shitty park, but hey, the Solam Noir du Coin to do skates.
And then, I met Lafsen du Coin, the guy who made the skateboarding bike.
Obviously, we sympathized.
You're young, you skate all the time, you skate.
So, the progression, of course.
And then, in fact, we set up a workshop with all these guys,
and we organized contests or concerts with the tune,
which we did with the bar or the inscriptions, we bought wood,
and we did the Haudos Park skateboard,
which also led to the new generation of skateboarding.
Music
Since I was 12 years old, as there was the Haudos Park,
which was not the only Haves park, a little bit,
I went there with a skateboard that we had bought at Christmas.
I had found the gesture that I had not seen for a while now.
And so, I recognized it.
And then, to see a bit of him skating with his friends,
it motivated me a lot to skate.
And then, here, I gave advice.
So, I continued to skate and that was it.
I found that it was good and everything.
And then, my father, when I was little,
took me to the Haudos skatepark.
And that's what gave me the opportunity to skate.
I had a board.
I tried to ride a little bit at home, on the sidewalks,
do some hollies, do a first flip,
try to make it turn, and little by little,
there were skateparks, basically parallel, I went.
And it was a little bit alone, it was too much to think about.
I took everything alone, after I had the big ones.
Well, you already.
You have to train with you.
We learn tricks, we say,
come on, you have to warm up.
That's it.
And in the end,
in the end, we learn by heart.
It's a personal sport.
You get bored, there is always someone to say,
no, you can do it like that,
do it like that.
The difference with a classic sport
is that it's an individual sport,
because you want to form a group with your friends.
I remember there were especially the guys like Mickey,
like Gèges, who trained at the park.
You know, it's Mickey who often,
he gave us advice,
how to place your feet.
He was always there to congratulate us.
When we were in Crix,
there would only be a holly with a little bit of pop.
He was always there to motivate us.
Yes, it's the people who taught me to skate.
The attack, it has evolved very well,
because there was a skate park that was out of the center of the park.
And we managed to have a skate park in the park,
so we had the opportunity to skate.
I lived in the park,
so it was a little easier to go.
And then little by little,
today there is still a new park.
Come on!
Come on!
It has evolved a lot.
It has evolved at the level of the practice world,
because when I started,
the stage made maybe 20 people.
And then little by little,
there is the entire generation who arrived,
who have 25 years today.
There is still a lot more.
The skate park has evolved.
We went through the concrete structures
with larger modules.
We are still more recognized as a sport
than it was 20 years ago.
That's why we have infrastructures,
so that we can become a sport.
Since I started skating,
it's gone in a flash.
It's amazing,
the level has completely changed,
the skate style has completely changed.
At the beginning, I was not even aware
that there were so many videos,
that the skate was so commercialized.
At the beginning, it was really less sport.
It was more simple to say,
I don't think it was a sport like that.
In every sense, internet,
videos, magazines.
There are often flips before taking a rail.
Before, it didn't come to you
that they could do that.
It doesn't stop evolving.
It's always more fun
when you see Joe Stone and everything.
When we started skating, he was 16.
What he did was abuse.
He grew up at the same time as us,
and now what he does,
it's always abused,
but it's abused now.
What is abused now is more abused
than what happened before.
I see on Facebook,
everything that is shared,
every time I go skating, I mate.
It's violent.
The ease with which they execute tricks,
what they do.
You see guys who are more crazy.
It's even bigger now.
There is this side,
there is also the side,
where they do things
a little more feline.
Magenta and everything.
There is this dimension,
which is new,
which didn't exist when I started skating.
I don't know, the points, the edges,
they changed.
The first thing that comes to my mind,
it's at the level
of the edges.
When I started,
it was the classic,
really the average.
I remember with Fuffa,
we were the first to skate from 8.
We were taken for extraterrestrials.
What is this boat you have and everything.
The other day, I wanted to buy a board from Jérôme,
and I saw that 8
was the minimum, it was the smallest size.
The same style of clothing
evolved somewhere.
I don't know, as I started,
it was still the fashion,
I'm also a little tired and all.
From here, at the beginning,
we had the image of people from zero,
I remember you,
large pants, big shoes.
I remember the Osiris of the three,
you know.
When I was young,
he couldn't do it in military.
At the beginning, it was still the fashion
of things that I'm a little tired and all.
After, I don't know,
there was a lot of
passage, a lot of fashion, you know.
I remember
the first time I went to Odos,
because it was, and I saw
the big ones,
there was this smile,
you know.
At the time, it was
in 2000, the year 2000,
it was the style of big shoes,
baggy,
big plus, I don't know,
and this guy, he was
slim, jean,
tight, with long conversations,
long hair,
and so,
I feel like it's part of
the big baggy,
big shoes, and little by little,
it's all over in the end.
We went all the way,
in my time, they called it
big pants, small wheels,
pants where you see your shoes,
when they were wide, and all small wheels.
But now, it's the opposite, it's tight pants,
big wheels, because big shoes,
you roll faster, you roll everywhere.
After, it was tight
in punk mode,
there were always
similar styles at the same time.
The slim pants,
the wider shirts,
the sneakers, and all that.
Yes, yes, there is a huge
fit in the sneakers,
it exploded the sneakers,
and it's still not bad,
it's popularized.
We arrived at the most
classic
style,
what can I say?
There is no such thing as
an impression.
Everyone wears Nike,
SB, Jamoski,
everyone wears tight jeans,
even the luxury products
are used by skaters
to make pubes.
The phone is used
by skaters to make pubes.
I think
I don't spend a day in Africa
where I don't have
a little skit, a little video,
where I don't talk about skates with someone,
where I don't think about skates,
but I don't think about them.
Skates are free,
because the progression is enormous.
When you do it in Hong Kong,
you can learn it in every direction,
one step back, one step forward,
all the figures are made to infinity.
The playground
is at the time of the game,
it doesn't matter.
People walk around in the city,
there will be walks,
an architecture that will be too pretty.
No, it's not
an architecture that is pretty,
but it's another one.
It leads you to look at other things,
it leads you to take photos,
videos,
couples, music,
travel,
because when you want to do skates
and you don't have a great spot in Hong Kong,
you take your car on weekends
with your friends,
and you do five or six days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week,
two days a week.
Bad things too, you see, injuries...
Conflict relations with my parents, because they were not at all from that environment.
They didn't really understand at first.
What do you see?
I didn't even have my parents to skate, and for them, it was not a sport.
It was the mid-frame, at the time, a board.
You know, a punk image, they never wanted to pay me one.
That's it, and I didn't give up anyway.
First pay, I bought a drink.
And now I skate almost often.
I don't know how they see things, I don't even know if it evolves.
I think that evolution is only when you pay attention to things.
For example, you and my parents are very close to rugby.
I think that they still have trouble seeing that, you see.
Seeing that we are normal people, they may take us for a walk.
I think there will always be people who will consider that skating is shit,
and it makes noise, and it breaks things.
Skating is something that doesn't really have a frame.
There are no precise hours for training,
there are no people who frame you formally.
What I liked was that you take your board, you have your basketball,
you skate, you skate.
You have to train on Wednesday and Friday evening in the rain
to be sure to play your match.
I play football, you see.
I go to training all the time, you play once in a while,
because it's really good.
If there is the coach's son who has to play, he will play on your board.
In fact, it was a frame in some way.
I don't know, once he defended me when I got attacked at the park,
something like that, you see.
Otherwise, it's true that sometimes it can be scary
for people who don't know,
or who are a little bit on another level.
And I think they still have trouble.
At the beginning, we skated, of course.
We skated in the streets, there were some steps,
it made a little noise, it ruined everyone.
They had to be checked by the girls, or call the girls.
So, it was a look, well, it wasn't cool,
we were considered as warriors.
At the beginning, when we were in the structure,
we were maybe less in the street,
to make noise in the evening,
to try to jump the steps of an animal,
with the neighbors screaming,
because unfortunately, we only had that as a place to go.
And so suddenly, there are people who come on Sunday
with their little kids at the skate park,
and they don't care about what the skate is.
It's not just making noise.
At the beginning, it was more a class
that was not seen by the people.
In the end, now, even the young people
who don't have children,
they bring them to the skate park,
argue and all that.
It's not cool.
Technically, it's still quite difficult.
It's not like jumping in the water,
there's no one there.
I don't want to lose the night.
Of course, with the fashion,
the skates come, the new skates.
Of course, the development,
it democratizes itself a little more.
There are more and more young people
who are on the edge of Christmas
and then there is the fashion,
so it's something to have,
even if we don't really skate.
So the look, I imagine,
that it has evolved a little more.
We see it less, it's a sport,
it's starting to make waves.
I don't think it's going to become the fashion.
And suddenly, people see more the side,
like cool, stylish, making biscuits.
It's too good, man, it's too beautiful,
that the side has destroyed a little bit,
but that's just the fashion.
It's just not the fashion.
It's even more a sport than it has been.
Recognized as a sport.
First, there is a Brevet d'Etat,
a federation,
it's part of the Roller federation,
but there are not many skaters
who are part of the federation,
but it's still there.
I don't know what the look on the discipline
has evolved.
First of all, there is nothing
to say about what is going to happen to the Jio.
I think it's going to happen to the Jio already.
Yes, there is the Verte,
which has entered a demonstration,
there are 80, I think,
and it is expected that it will enter.
I think it's an evolution of things,
because when you see the contests
that took place in the United States,
they are recognized by the great names
of the skaters,
and what they want is for the skaters to be recognized
as the American football.
The Strict League, for them, is the Super Bowl
of the skater.
It brings thousands of people
by contest.
It's impressive.
It's not what I like
in the skater, but it's an evolution of the skater.
And everything that can
evolve the skater is beneficial for us.
The more it is recognized,
the more we will have structure,
the more we will be able to skate.
You can see the skateparks
that we can have now.
They are concrete, a little cleaner,
a little more spacious.
It's less dirty, it's more...
It's more pleasant to look at,
there is no more a concrete plate
with modules everywhere.
It will attract people,
it will attract them.
It's nice to look at.
There is a better look
on the skater.
It has evolved a lot.
Look at the skater.
It's been 10 years.
Yes, all over the park,
everywhere.
There are a lot of cool guys in each city.
Things will continue.
Nidja Austin in 10 years
will make triple corks to El Toro.
At the level of tricks,
I think it will always be more spectacular.
I don't know where it will stop.
I think that everything will continue
in 100%. If you go to Bordeaux,
they will do capoeira,
we have skates.
I think that
the vision of the skater
will evolve.
We'll see.
I don't know
how it will be in 10 years,
but it will...
It will evolve a lot.
It will evolve a lot.
In the direction of democratizing the skates,
I hope that it will not end
in competition,
in the gyros,
I don't know what.
I hope not.
Maybe there will be this side,
and next to it,
there will always be the good-looking skater,
skater, skater,
skater, skater,
skater, skater,
skater, skater.
I don't know where they are all.
I don't know.
