You ready? Because I'm ready.
This way.
What's up? What's up? I'm your girl DJ C.P.
Classic hip hop and R&B
hanging out right here in Fort Worth, Texas.
You know, can't be in a greater place but here
and I'm just glad to be here.
Well, you know, a lot of times people ask me
when's the first time you heard hip hop
and I mean vanilla ice,
MC Hammer, Salt and Pepper were just things
that I absolutely loved and adored
when I was a kid.
MCV, The Box.
And actually for hip hop though,
when I first heard
they reminisced over you, which is Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth.
When I first heard that track is when I fell in love with hip hop.
Couldn't go wrong with that track. That track is still classic.
With classic hip hop, people embrace it with the culture.
It's about the people. It's for the people.
When I DJ, it's for the people.
It's for my community.
I want to give back and give more to my community.
Classic hip hop and R&B will never die.
It'll always be here.
And for the younger people that are watching,
I embrace and respect the culture that's been here
and it's been given to us for years.
Basically what I want to say is
I knew hip hop, that's fine, but you always want to respect the classics.
EPMD, Chuck D,
Public Enemy,
Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash and The Wheels of Steel.
Shout out to my favorite DJs.
Like I said, Grandmaster Flash,
DJ Scratch, DJ Spinderella,
DJ Modave, the original DJ Born.
These are people that inspire me as far as hip hop goes.
But you want to respect Salt and Pepper,
Biggie, Tupac, Nas,
Rock Him.
I mean, there's an endless list of the classics for hip hop.
You cannot deny that.
Growing up on the East Side of Fort Worth,
people say it's hard.
I think you make your dreams come true.
You make what it is out of your life.
You work hard to make your dreams come true.
Shout out to Eastern Hills High School,
because that's my platform, that's my roots right there.
I always give back to my city.
I always represent Fort Worth.
Radio, I mean, I've always loved music,
but my cousin, she won second row tickets to KSFM Party 98.
And I look on the stage,
Kid Craddock, Kelly Raspberry,
Abigale are up on stage,
and I'm like, man, how cool is it
that they're up on stage,
and that's what they get paid to do?
That's how fun? Who wouldn't want to do that?
So that's where I was with it.
So I was like, you know what, I'm going to go to school,
I'm going to go to American Broadcasting School
and give it a shot, because I love radio and I love music.
And so that's one of the things
and until now,
graduating with Tarrant County College
was such a big thing,
and my social degree in radio, television, and film,
which is opening more doors for me now,
and I'm following my dreams.
And Boom 94.5,
K-S-O-C, K-S-O-C, Boom 94.5,
I better get that one right.
It's where I want to be, it's where I want to grow.
I don't know, we'll just see what the future has for DJCP,
you know what I'm saying?
First and foremost, I just want to give a shout out
all glowy to God, without God, we're nothing.
He is my strength, my savior,
my family, my parents, my brothers,
all my family that give me support,
all my friends, Dallas Fulworth Community,
everybody that rocks with me.
Shout out to my mentors,
this original DJ born,
DJ Spinderella, that's Sammy G.
At Fishbowl Radio Network,
DJ Mo Dave, Boom 94.5,
and shout out to my homie,
AJ Oram,
even in live productions.
He makes magic happen, man.
Future JJ Abrams right there.
And shout out to my barber, Brandon Buford,
all in some Texas FB3 lounge,
barber lounge, man, that's where it's at.
And you know, just keep rockin' with your girl,
I'm grateful, I'm humble, and I just say thank you
for listening, thank you for being here with me
on this journey.
On this journey?
