I was maybe five or seven years old. My mother would say, get out of the house, get out of
the house, you know. We didn't have any lift, we just climbed up and skied down and climbed
up again and had good time. You play a game in tennis, you have a tennis racket to play
here, you have got two sticks to play. So it's very simple, really, you know.
It was quite a surprise to come here. I remember as clear as anything, coming higher up, I thought,
where is the snow? There was no snow around. Then finally coming around the corner,
that's meagre step of some snow on the hill.
I said, I'm going to Australia and the people in the village said, do they speak good German there?
So everything was play, play, play, play, you know, and this is what it still is to me.
Everything is speed, you know. How fast can I drive? How fast can I ski? How fast can I run?
How fast can I think? Speed is one of the biggest parts there of enjoyment. When you go out in the
morning, I get a kick out of it. I can go to the speed I like. Every day when I get up in the morning,
instead of lying down and dying, waiting to die, I go up there and have a little buzz.
Skiing always gives you a freedom. So as long as you can handle those two planks under your feet, you ride.
Skiing always gives you a freedom.
Everybody loves their skiing. They come from Cindy, that's 500 kilometers. Back 500 kilometers,
that's a thousand kilometers you drive just for having fun. I like to be outside,
rather than in a workshop. At the moment, I'm very, very fortunate that I have a life like this.
