This is, without a doubt, the coolest thing I've ever done.
Yep, that's me, right next to the biggest fish in the world.
Want to know how I got there?
I was on holiday, lying on a tropical beach, soaking up the sun, but somehow I felt like
I was missing out on something.
When inspiration hit, I decided to sign up for my Paddy open water course.
The guys on my course turned out to be fantastic.
We all immediately quit.
The equipment felt a little bit strange at first, but the enthusiasm of the instructor
in the dive master was contagious and gave us the confidence that we needed.
The sensation of breathing underwater as the bubbles tickled my face was unreal.
Our instructor was very patient and let us practice until we were doing the skills like
pros.
As we made our way out for the first open water dives, we were all a little bit nervous
about what was in store for us.
During the briefing, our instructor put us at ease and really got us excited for what
we were going to see.
Diving teaches you to work together in buddy teams, to help each other out and to share
the fun.
We really couldn't wait to go diving.
Within the first moments, I had arrived in a different world.
All of a sudden, I was surrounded by things I'd never seen before.
The colours were brilliant.
The way things moved and sounded were totally different to anything I'd ever experienced.
Just kicking through the water weightless was a special feeling.
And the corals and the amazing variety of marine life were beautiful beyond anything
I could have imagined.
I can't tell you how much fun I had and the amazing experience of my patio open water
course.
It took my holiday and my life to a whole new level.
So here I am, a certified patio open water diver.
I guess I made the right choice.
What do you think?
