We're here with Sam Pilgrim, so let's just ask him a name, obviously, but age and where
are you from, Sam?
Yeah, so I'm 21 from England, Colchester, England, yeah, and I'm just here in Colorado
Vale for the Teva Winter Games, and I'm going to test out that big jump in a little while,
so I'm not really scared of that, but I'll just watch everyone else ride it first, and
then, yeah.
Let someone else be the guinea pig.
Yeah, yeah.
Always.
Awesome.
Sam, coming off of a big year last year, you had some sweet wins, good year, what
do you gain planned for this next year?
Yeah, last year worked out really well actually, and it's actually really hard, so if you do
really good one year, you can't ever bat a first place, so it's always quite a lot of
pressure, you know, but hopefully it's going to be good this year as well, I'm going to
make loads of edits and stuff, and just try and have a better year than last year or something
like that.
Nice, that was good, that was a good year.
What do you feel about these snow events, like you're in Austria, I was rooting for
you in Austria by the way, but now we're back at the snow again, what do you think about
it?
It's actually like deep down, I don't really like it that much, because it's like really
out of control, and they usually run the event at night, and that's scary when you've got
the white ground.
True.
But you know, it's actually funny when you're with all the guys and that, so any event I
like.
Cool, just riding your bike, it's fun.
Alright, well speaking of events, this upcoming year, what events are you looking forward
to the most that you just love being at?
Like every year, Vienna Air King for me is like one of my favorites, it's like the start
of the season, everyone's there usually, and it's just fun parties, and everyone's just
real cool and excited to be there.
And to brag about you a little bit, you've two times in a row, right?
You won that?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Actually, I think this year there's a few contests that I might be at a triple, which
is kind of funny, which is like way too much pressure to handle, but you know, hopefully
it will work.
Let's talk more rock, right?
Alright.
Well plus size BMX, so we have a couple questions from viewers that are on the website, so some
of your big fans, James Buckman, what inspired you to ride dirt and street a lot on mountain
bikes?
So like, I've always rode mountain bikes, like I didn't ride a BMX or anything, and
you know, I love watching the BMX videos, because obviously they're crazy, and I don't
know, like street stuff's fun, I like the mountain bike, you can ride whatever you want
on it, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know, it's just good to make edits that are different, like the Danny Mack one,
he's riding street, he got like millions of views, because it's like something that
people can, you know, normal people can see, whereas dirt jumps for normal people are just
kids playing around, I think, but street's like really there, you know?
That's sweet.
Yeah.
And then, so next one is Hans Shoemaker, what age did you start riding, and how do you
progress in your riding?
Like, what motivates you, and how do you train, I guess?
So I started, I think, when I was about, I always say 10, but I think I was younger,
because I started racing motocross when I was 11, and I've forgotten the question.
And then what do you do for training, or do you just ride your bike, what motivates you
to progress?
Yeah, so sorry.
So yeah, from when I was small, I did the motocross, and that was my sort of influence
at the start, I like jumping and things, and then now it's like, I watch all the videos
on all the websites, you know, whatever, to see what all the other riders are doing, and
it's just, I try and make, my thing is like, see how many views I can get on videos, and
my inspirations to try and get more views, to get, I don't know, I just try and look
at it as like a fun thing to do, and I watch other guys, and they do things, see if I want
to do something cool.
Get creative, yeah, that's cool, so speaking of creativity, I really like that you ride
park and dirt and streets, it's just fun just to ride everything.
What's your favorite trick to do when you're dirt jumping?
I think 360's are 360's, you know, like just a standard 360, it feels so much fun, like
it's good you can get the nose down, or you know what I mean.
Yeah, you mix it up, that's sick, and then, okay, what about park, when you're at the
park, what do you like to do?
I actually love flares, I love to try and do one of the small things, or strange stuff.
I've witnessed a sand pilgrim really small flare at Worldward once, it was pretty amazing.
So that little steep quarter in the back, that was good, man, that was good.
And then, pretty much, that's it for the questions from the viewers, and then, last time in the
wheel, that's what motivates you, or what keeps you going, and what gets you pumped on riding,
you know?
Definitely, I don't know, I just love being with my friends on that as well, and like
obviously, look where I am now, miles from heart, because of my bike, so, I mean, it's
just awesome, I'm still excited just to ride the bike all the time, and do stuff, so hopefully
that can continue, and you know, just, yeah, I love it still.
Cool, what kind of music do you like real quick?
Electronic stuff.
Electronic, well we got right here the T-Pain mic, so we'll put this bad boy on.
And then, so, it works, so if you want to spit a little bit into the mic for us, so
if you can push here, and then I push it, and we'll record it, and if you want to say
some goodbyes, and do it into that, man, and give us your little, so I press this, and
then record.
Yeah, we're recording now, so do your thing.
Okay, so, cheers for the interview, here with plus size BMX.
We like to ride bikes, and chill with our friends, and yeah, that's my wrap, not really
a wrap up, and yeah, thanks viewers, hope you enjoy this little interview, my awesome
singing ability.
Sweet.
Sam Pilgrim, there's a new single coming out soon.
Yeah.
Sam, thanks dude.
