I don't know how much of the handsome mings anything, but I'm going to say welcome to Morning Coffee.
I got the sidekick to my, my left. Maybe you're right. If you can see me, hear me.
Danny, say something to them.
Morning, everybody.
I'll tell you.
I'd like to see you guys back.
Now you guys, this is more than just eye candy. We got the pretty red boat and the shiny head over there.
That's some good, that's good stuff over here today.
Tell them about it. Now what you going to jump off with them for on the first snow here, man?
What's the, what's the hot on the coffee?
Well, I want you to know that I'm, I'm feeling a little down today because everybody in here is so much more beautiful than me.
But that's okay. That's okay. It can be more beautiful because, you know, I have other stuff I fix up well or so.
But I want you to know what's on my mind is that thinking about the president because the president's making me feel good.
And the president, they try to involve him in controversy.
They're trying to involve him in a lot of controversy. And this is a wonderful story that Daddy brought out for us today.
A reminder, something we're reading about today is that yesterday our president, our new elected president,
addressed the Muslim world, right? In a way that it was really pretty much a day.
Tell us what you know about the story.
Well, basically, I just heard it just as I was traveling, you know, in the car and see, having a morning show.
I want to tell you about how President Barack Obama was on Al Jazeir, the Arab world's basically their news network that goes out to the Arab world.
We've never really had any diplomat or president to actually go on to, you know, and actually speak to the Arab people as Obama did.
So I'm sure he may get some backlash on that because he's extending an olive branch.
You know, enough of not being able to talk to, you know, the Arab world and this is over with.
We've got to figure out what can we do to bridge, you know, the gap between the miscommunication, the noncommunication.
We always seem to, I mean, it always seemed like to me in the news that we just never really allowed them to or hear us speak and then allow them to speak.
There's no open line of dialogue to me between the Arab world. That's how I look at it.
Well, I think that's the precedent. You know, you think about it because some of these things people today really think are the norm.
But just like prior to, I think it was what, your previous pope was the first one to visit Latin America.
This president here is the first president that you've ever had to actually, I think, say the word.
And what did they say? He was the first president ever to use the word Muslim in an inauguration speech.
He was the first person to actually, as far as we, as far as the record show, to really extend himself out to the Muslim community like this.
And of course, this is what I really am coming to enjoy more and more about this president.
Balzi. Balzi. It was something he talked about doing. These are the little things.
Now, remember, a lot of what a president does when he's not just paying bills is to set the tone and the vibe for the nation.
And by doing this, by his stepping forward and initiating, you know, this outreach to the Muslim community worldwide.
First of all, imagine the impact just in the Muslim community. Now, as a black man, I can tell you, in the old days, when a politician would even come out and show any attention to the black community,
you know, all they had to do in the old days was show up and eat some chicken and say, we shall overcome and they got your vote.
Just the truth. That's the truth. It's the truth because just to have any attention was so unusual.
I know you think people think it's funny, but I say, remember now, just to get any attention is just like when a politician comes to small communities,
when he comes down to see what's going on, when there's problems. That's why those things have such an impact.
These are people that are used to really having no attention from the government.
So now that your president has initiated this kind of dialogue and really extended an olive branch,
he's probably done more in one speech to combat terrorism against the United States than GW did this whole administration.
Now, this is interesting. Now, where do you think it rates on?
It has a matter of importance with the U.S. citizens. The $825 billion stimulus package or what we just covered here.
Which one tends to draw more of your attention, you know?
I think the money draws more of your attention, but I'll tell you what big.
I think that the Muslim community, and not just the Muslim community,
because when I go to work and I work in a very diverse kind of environment with people from all backgrounds,
it's interesting people expect that by the tone he said by dealing with the Muslim community,
they expect us to affect our relationships with all these other nations, China, Korea, Philippines, you know,
the former Soviet Union, Russia, you know now, and everybody's expecting this whole change.
But still, I agree. The money thing is a big thing. We talked about that, you guys, right?
Yes.
How much does it pick again?
$825 billion stimulus package.
And $25 billion stimulus package, you know.
And I want to get to say hello to all those wonderful conservative socialists.
You know, most of the conservatives of our country have turned to socialists lately,
as they creep those wonderful handouts of these bailout programs.
They're what Daddy refers to the neo-welfare queens.
These are our new welfare queens.
The conservative used to be business people who are now taking those wonderful bailouts.
And it just turns out that the president, and what we think again is a far-reaching gesture,
has put forth some measures that would allow $850 billion to be spent on the little man for the most part.
So, you know, they can get a little bailout, too.
They can get a little part of the bailout.
And this, again, is what's adhering to the populace.
Of course, he's running to some opposition from the Republican, but they have to tread lightly here, people.
They have to tread lightly, because no way do they want to be perceived as against this bailout of the little man in the United States.
But believe me, it shows you.
This was not, it shows you, you have your president talking about this, and you have silence,
which goes to show you that he is, at least to me, executing leadership in a tremendous vacuum.
No, no, wait a minute.
Are you saying that this is the best time for the little man, or are you just saying that the little man is getting a little bit more attention,
and no disrespect, the little one?
Well, you know, you know, I hate to sound too Machiavelli on this, but you know, first of all, as Machiavelli did say,
the common man doesn't care who rules him, as long as you come in and give him a little bit more grain,
and cut his taxes a little bit, okay?
This is written back, you know, quite a ways.
So this is, this is, this, that still is true.
So, yeah, but on the other hand, the money, the little crumbs from the table actually make a different,
a huge difference in a lot of communities in terms of, in terms of grants for school, education, those kinds of things.
So it's, I'm not saying it's a great time for the little man, because it actually hasn't sort of really happened yet.
I can just say it certainly looks a hell of a lot better than the last eight years.
Well, let's look at it this way, eight days and counting.
I mean, wow, we're, we're really already kind of raising the bar, aren't we,
because of the expectation of the president.
He hasn't even got out of the month of January yet.
So what does that mean, that this is a positive move forward?
I mean, I think he's capitalizing off of the energy and the ground will support from the time he was elected.
And he's taking advantage of it, you know, because you ride the wave as long as possible.
So you, you tell me, is he taking advantage of the wave right now?
I think he's taking advantage of the wave.
I think we're going to take advantage of the wave, because you know what?
What?
We're going to have to take a break for a minute.
Oh, you know what?
There's a coffee break.
There's a coffee break, right?
Oh, yeah.
Okay, I'm Marlon Hemsley, this is Pac Stereo.TV, Morning Coffee with Marlon Hemsley,
and we'll be right back.
Okay?
Hmm.
