I think it's gonna be a hell of a night, a hell of a night, so we can do whatever you like, hey, hey.
It took me all day to find some inspiration, it just hit me like a ton of bricks, no innovation.
Problem with the game now, there ain't no innovation, I see my shit at least.
GY312 here with Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers, we're here at the Kevin Durant Nike Skills Academy.
How's the academy treating you guys?
It's been good man, I've been enjoying it so far.
Been a good experience looking forward to the rest of the week.
What interesting things have you guys seen since you've been here?
What have you learned since you've been playing with all of the top, you know what I'm saying?
Cast on the collegiate ranks, getting ready to get it in this year.
Basically man, just getting used to playing with these type of guys,
I've been playing high school all my life and going to college next year as a freshman,
so just getting used to that physicality with these guys a lot stronger, so just getting used to that.
I see an interview you had with Cameron Smith after the McDonald's All-American game,
and I know you were talking about perfecting certain skill sets,
like any particular portion of your game that you really have been working hard this summer,
that you kind of continue to take to the next level?
Yeah, just continuing to get stronger and just kind of developing everything,
you can never stop working, so I've been trying to get stronger and working on mid-range a little bit,
because I need to improve with that, so that's my main focus right now.
Okay, what about you?
Just developing ball handling in our offense, we like to run the floor,
so we don't have to grab the ball through the rebound and push the dimensions to our offense.
And I know you guys are going to be going to rival schools, I mean,
it's going to be interesting to see like, is it, do you guys feel that that competitive nature,
like you guys off the court see you guys definitely been pretty,
you've seen a lot of camaraderie there, like what are you looking forward to,
playing against each other, anything like that?
I mean, I just see them as another, you know, they're one of the greatest schools in college basketball,
so I just see it as a great opportunity to go against those guys and the coaching over there,
you know, they have all the fame players and coaches that have been there,
so I'm just excited to get to play against North Carolina and everybody in ACC,
but you know, off the court we're all friends, we've been playing with each other since we were like in 8th grade,
so we all know each other, so it's all good.
I know you mentioned that you have some family in Chicago, and any of that influence being around Chicago,
a lot of the basketball players like influence your game?
No, I just watched MJ growing up, so I didn't really have, other than that,
I was only in Chicago for the influence of my game.
Do you feel like an added, you know, pressure to, I guess, compete to take a lot more of that scoring,
like role with the offensive?
I mean, I just see it as me stepping in and just trying to do what Coach Kay and everybody there wants me to do.
You know, I'm not trying to feel anybody's shoes or try to take over anybody's position or anything like that.
I'm just going to go there and play the way I know I can play.
I'm not trying to play like anybody else did before there.
I'm going to play the way I can play and the way Coach Kay then want me to play,
so I'm just going there trying to be the best team that I can and just try to win overall.
Whatever I have to do to win, that's what I'm going to try to do.
Speaking of work ethic, how much have you been putting to your game this summer that you feel is going to take your game this year?
I mean, you have to spend a lot of time working on your game.
Coming to college last year, I didn't realize how efficient you really have to be.
In terms of just one, two dribbles, how much space you need to be able to create to get your shot off
and how different teams will play you, so you just have to work on just being efficient as possible
and just put as much work into that as you can.
Last question, gowayhiphop.com, we're a music site.
We do a lot of different, you know, perspective with music.
What artists, if you guys are fans of the game, musicians, artists that pump you up that you're checking for
that you're already rocking with?
I'm a big Jett Cole and a big Sean fan and Drake, you know, Wayne, Wiz Khalifa,
all those guys, they're great.
I'm on Jett Cole right now though, that's my favorite rapper right now.
Okay, how about you?
I'm a big Wayne fan, I like Drake and Wiz and then I've been listening to Mack Newell out lately.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm sure he did that beat of wear my hat and that was a little dope.
Appreciate having you, man.
Definitely you guys enjoyed the rest of the time here in Chicago with Harrison Barnes,
Austin Rivers, G1312, gowayhiphop, we're over and out.
