Alright folks you are in for a treat tonight.
I have Joe Nakamato in the house with me again it's so great to have her back.
How are you doing DJ Gregor?
I'm doing great how are you doing?
I'm doing pretty good this week it's been an interesting and busy month but a good one.
Awesome well busy is very good for you because hey if you're not busy then you're not working
right?
That's right and I do like to work otherwise I get really bored.
Awesome hey I have a band that you picked up for me and we're going to feature them
tonight.
Oh which is that I bet it's a really good one.
Yeah it's a wagaki band.
Oh I love that band they are so awesome they are amazing amazing talented people.
I think they are really super great because they use traditional instruments as well as
modern ones to play metal which is really kind of cool.
It's a dope Japanese j-rock metal genre that they play and they do combine traditional
folklore instruments like the koto and the shamisen as well as the shakuhachi which is
a wooden flute and then they also have a bass guitar and electric guitar and a drum kit.
Yeah I mean it's great let's play a few of their songs right off the bat.
You want to announce the first couple of songs?
I can't pronounce them right.
I think the first one put on the list here is that ikusa?
That's it and then the next one is oh you know I don't have the list in front of me.
It's hajizur I can't pronounce it but it's great.
I'm going to go ahead and I'll play these and then you can let us know what the songs
were named after they've been played.
I'm going to play three songs back to back and then we're going to come right back.
Oh great well I'm going to give a hint on the first one ikusa means war.
Oh awesome I didn't know that.
I think you'll hear a lot of that in the music so it's great that we're starting off without
one first.
Okay here we go.
I'm going to go ahead and I'll play these and then you can let us know what the songs
were named after the first couple of songs.

Thank you all for joining us tonight.
We're jammin' out here with Joe Nakamato.
And I also want to say, because we're not going to play any PSAs tonight on this show,
support your local veterans, okay?
So I'm a veteran and also there's a lot of VEX out there that really need your help.
Right on. Go check out your local veteran hospital service organizations and things like that.
It doesn't matter if they're still in the service or they got out and they've been out for a long time.
Hey, just let them know that you care, alright?
It means a lot to us.
Joan, it's really great having you with me tonight.
Likewise, Mark. I'm really happy to be here and be your guest this evening.
You know, with the Wagaki Band playing all their awesome music,
the metal mixed with the traditional Japanese instrumentation
and also folklore and the music as well.
Yeah, one of these days I'm going to figure out a way that we can have it translated
so that when people go into the chat rooms and things like that,
they can look and say, oh, so that's what they're singing about.
That's right.
It'll be so great.
I don't know if Google has a translator for music yet or not,
but it'd be great if they did.
Well, I suppose that they do one day because I think a lot of people find that useful
when there are international music lovers out there.
Well, I'll say this. I don't know a lot of Japanese
and I can't pronounce a lot of Japanese words.
I can probably say a lot more in Polish,
but I love music from around the world,
and I've always had a thing about, hey, if it sounds good,
it doesn't matter if you don't understand what they're saying.
The music's good. Music is good no matter what.
Yes, I have the same frame of mind.
I've always thought that ever since I was a very young child
and luckily I've been exposed to a lot of different ethnic music from all over the world,
and I have so many favorites.
I guess you could call it having eclectic taste,
but no matter where you go in the world, music is such a universal language.
That, and modeling is too.
Why don't you tell us a little bit about that
while we take our little break here in between songs?
Oh, okay. Well, I guess for the listeners that are just tuning in,
my model name is actually Joan V,
and I've been modeling now for many, many years.
I'm a veteran, mature alternative genre model,
so basically when I say alternative,
it's anything that's non-mainstream
and it's anti-fashion instead of what's in fashion,
and I've been enjoying doing that for so many years now
and continue to do so on a regular basis.
Just lately I have had a few of my works published in a few magazines.
A couple coming out from England,
one is coming out from Russia next month,
as well as a few really great American-based alternative magazines.
So I've been busy planning shoots
and I'm going to be doing quite a few shoots over the summer very soon,
and it's just something that's a passion of mine.
I'm also a musician.
I put that on the back burner for a while
and just decided to pursue my modeling a lot more
because as we advance in age and maturity, for instance,
it's good to get these things done as soon as possible, right?
Well, sometimes it's like wine.
Sometimes it gets better as years go by.
That's right, and I like to think of it like that.
To me, there is no barrier in terms of real age
or your energy level or how you present yourself as a visual artist.
So I'm planning to do that for as long as I'm healthy.
Let's just say that, right?
Awesome.
It's always good to have you and have you come in
because you've always supported the show
as well as sent in some of your works
that I add into the slideshows for this program.
Yes, I thank you for that
because I've had a lot of really positive feedback from that as well.
It's like a form of advertising, really.
Well, I'm happy to do it for you and your magazine.
And when we come back after this next set,
we'll talk a little bit about Dark Parlor.
Let's do that.
We have a few more coming up here,
and we hope the listeners are enjoying the Wagahki Band selections this evening.
Okay, the next one up is Sukiyo.
Is that how it's pronounced, Joan?
Very good pronunciation actually.
Sukiyo.
And then Hagonay.
Hagonay, yes.
And we'll be back after the song after that.
Oh, yeah.
So I better get going before I get tongue twisted more.
Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thank you, everyone.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you everyone.
Thank you.
Thank you, everyone.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you, everyone.
I think I love피 separationow.
oh man i think we're having a better time than the listeners if they could only hear what we
talk about in between maybe i should make a show about that sometime what goes on behind the scenes
of draegus productions with uh yeah with with mark and june i'll tell you what this this is a
really great show tonight and you know uh you were going to tell us a little bit about dark parlor
yes parlor was bored out of my my dark and strange mind it uh it was something that i had
imagined way back in i say 2011 and i really actually launched it a year after that 2012 with
you know a few experimental publications first but then recently it really started to grow
especially in the last year and a half so our fans on facebook have really increased and
it's basically a dark alternative magazine and we accept all different types of artists from all
walks of life who consider themselves alternative genre artists or musicians uh we've had models
photographers fashion designers we also have had tattoo artists freak show performers circus
performers and just just everybody who considers themselves out you know a little out in the left
field and and out of the common and out of the mainstream so we we we like to keep the themes
very very open uh we do have uh like a bi-monthly theme issue that comes out but now we're incorporating
what's called an open themed issue twice a year so that artists out there can just basically go crazy
and do whatever they want because uh we really enjoy seeing what people create out there because
there's there's so many ingenious creative people in the alternative subgenre cultures
and i just felt that people were very under appreciated and you know pretty much unknown
as well so in order to bring that to the forefront uh my team and i decided to put this magazine
together so that we we could freely promote all of these different people and we don't discriminate
against anyone so for instance if you're a model you don't have to be you know under 25 or you don't
have to be six feet tall we take models of all shapes sizes age ranges male female transgendered
we don't discriminate against any of our artists when we see really terrific work and it looks great
and it sounds great we will put it into the magazine with the music we do music reviews
so we ask musicians to uh sometimes send us mp3s or a link where we can focus on on their music
so that we can actually write up about their latest ep or a new cd that they've put out
so we look at talent from a very wide range of of age groups and subgenres and uh we like to keep
a very open mind because there's just so many talented people out there that would like to
be recognized and they have a voice and they have something to say so that's why i started this
magazine and we're just really really happy as to the progress it's been making and it's getting
more well known out there and people are talking about it quite a bit and uh we we just want to
give artists uh the freedom to just be themselves and to express themselves as much as possible
so that's why that's why i i decided i'm gonna do that it's a lot of fun and uh i just i get
thrilled every time we get work in that's really really great because then we can show it off for
the artists and uh they can promote their work that way and we do keep our advertising to a
minimum and it's very reasonably priced uh we like to put out a really great quality magazine
uh you know a fair-sized magazine uh in full color and also in black and white and uh we
do this every two months so we do six issues in an entire year and uh that's that's one of the
passions i guess that grew out of my own passion of being a visual artist and doing alternative
modeling because i felt that you know it's it's really fun doing the modeling but you know a lot
of people out there uh who are in subculture groups they don't have an actual way to express that or
get it out more into the public so it educates people and that's that's where the dark parlor
comes in and that's what our vision is so i really enjoy doing that every two months and putting
out a new issue with our team and we have a great deal of fun doing it we're a little bit picky on
the quality but but that's because we want to present things that are like really wow you know
they have a wow factor and uh things that are really unique and very different and uh sometimes
even shocking because i think to be shocked sometimes is actually a good thing it gets people
out of their comfort zone and uh you know real life is like that too is it not absolutely yeah so
i look at art as an expression of life itself i mean i think without art life would be extremely
boring without music life would be really really extremely boring and um we we just want to be
able to give the opportunity to a lot of different types of people out there to really express themselves
fully because i think that's an important part of being a happy person i love it because i get to
uh advertise for one of my favorite people and that's you oh thank you and we get to advertise
your station and uh yeah and you know uh in every single uh slideshow that i've done for this show
and every show that i have for cypher agm has something about dark parlor or jone in it so
make sure you check them out as well as her magazine because uh it's it's really great you
know it's fun there's some really nice and uh informative articles in there as well so make
sure you check them out yeah we have a lot of articles on uh interesting topics uh things that
involve the supernatural or the occult sometimes we do uh we do uh accept short stories as well
that are horror based or a science fiction based or just really really out there something really
weird and uh we just really enjoy putting it all out there for our artists that we feature and
also for the general public so that they can understand what subcultures are are about
that's great and with that we better get back to plan some music because uh folks like to listen
to music here as well so uh let's play some more of the wagaki band and we're gonna start off with
act act act i'm tongue twister go ahead help me out there jone okay uh what number are we on right
now it's uh the one that says a k a t s u k i no e2 oh that one okay i see it right here on the list
sorry happy school yeah we're gonna we had to jump ahead of a few because uh we did a little talking
so right okay that one is called akatsuki no ito all right followed by haku han right and then the
next one would be uh let's see i think this is not an alphabetical order here so i believe the next one
is is that the hanabi no it's a nadu nadishiku shi nadishiko sakura oh okay that one yes i see it
right here that'll be next your pronunciation is actually really improving oh really that's good
i'm glad you know i've been playing this kind of music for quite a while and i've been pronouncing
it wrong for a long lot even longer uh but uh it's really good to have someone here to help me out
and make sure i'm pronouncing them correctly so with that you're learning and that's what we're all
here for right that's right and having fun doing it and with that we're gonna bring the music up and
get it going all right
um

How do we get a hold of you, Joan?
Well, I can be contacted via Facebook.
I do have a Facebook page.
And that is facebook.com
slash Joan V Alt Model
forward slash
And my direct email address
in terms of modeling bookings
or inquiries about Dark Parlor Magazine
is Joanv13athotmail.ca
So I can be contacted in those two ways, definitely.
And we're going to be putting out
a colorful characters issue in early June.
So we're going to be featuring on the cover
a Canadian professional cosplay model
by the name of Levina Yavari.
And we're so looking forward to working with her
to cover and feature coming up
because she is a very up and coming
young cosplay model based out of Ontario.
And she's putting out really amazing work out there.
So we are thrilled to have her on the cover
in June, which is coming up really soon.
And then in terms of my modeling work,
I'm going to be published in about
four different magazines coming up in the next month so far.
As I said before, one out of Russia,
two out of the UK,
and a couple out of the United States of America.
So I'm very appreciative that my work is getting out there
and people are publishing it.
It's a big thrill for me.
And I also just wanted to tell
all of our artist friends out there
that if you have great work that you want to show,
whether it's visual art or your music,
if you're old of me and send in your work to us,
we do have the Dark Parlor Mag page on Facebook.
So it's under facebook.com
forward slash dark parlor mag forward slash.
So please let give us a like,
give my modeling page and my magazine a like
and send your stuff.
And we're always excited to find new talent
as well as established talent out there.
If you have a business
or you're a designer or anything like that,
make sure that you check Joan's magazine Dark Parlor Out
because she has a terrific sponsor package
that you can get in there and get some advertisement through her.
So make sure you check that out.
And we're running out of time.
Oh my goodness, that hour just went so fast.
And with that, I'm going to fade us out on the last song
and that's Shell.
And it was the Witch Hunter Robin theme.
That's terrific.
Well, thank you for having me, Mark.
And I just want to give a special shout out to EW
because I noticed he's in the chat room listening.
So hi EW, I miss you guys.
And especially to all of my local Winnipeg
and my Canadian friends out there who are listening tonight.
So hugs and kisses for all of you.
And I think my fiance is on there too.
So Davey, I'm so glad you're listening to the show tonight
because I know you love this music.
And I just want to thank everyone for joining us tonight.
It was great fun.
Thank you so much, Mark.
Anytime, Joan, you can stop in and you can say,
Hey, Mark, I'm free.
It's Wednesday.
Let's do some music.
All right.
Have a good night, everyone.
Take care, God bless, and party on.
All right.
