I describe what I do as providing creative experiences as opposed to just painting or
doing art. I even myself been trying to define what kind of artist I am and I just kind of
define myself as a creative artist meaning I just do heaps of cool creative stuff.
Sand art is one of the strings to my bow that I use to help me sustain myself as an artist.
What I enjoy about the sand art is the way that like sand and some light plus some music can be
engaging or help can hold people's attention. What I get out of sand art is that I get a feeling
of satisfaction because it's a goal that I've set ages ago. I've always wanted to create a living
by being an artist or being a creative person so in a sense I'm living the dream.
My inspirations come from the things that inspire me for example I love people that
perform especially those people that use art as a way to entertain like it's because I love
that idea of like mystery or you kind of like like as a spectator you're not too sure what's
coming up next and so it's allowing people to share that creative experience and they kind of come
along with you in the journey. Everything all starts from the idea and then from the idea
everything else just falls into place but it's coming up with that initial idea which is the
most challenging thing. I think the key thing is like finding the visual that would most represent
clearly of what is it that you're trying to say. That's a cool thing about the art form is because
people create their own dialogue in their head of what they they interpret from a particular
performance even though I might do the same thing people might see the same thing a little bit
differently. The challenge for the sand is coming up with transitions so transitions
being like it's easier to just like draw something and then just rub it out and then just draw
something else but if you can like draw something and then leave something kind of half there and
then turn it to something else that's when kind of like the magic happens. But the thing that I
love to do is to tell stories about our own country and our own culture because there's so
much that we can learn and it's just another method or another media in which we can see our
stories acted out. How do I feel when I kind of wipe it all away? It's kind of like if you're
standing on the stage and behind the stage there's like all this cool stuff going on and you open
up the curtains and say hey look at this cool stuff and you just close it. It's just kind of like
part of the show.
