Hello, my name is Ramla Qureshi and I'm the founder of Women Engineers Pakistan, we're
an organization that works very hard to promote women in science, technology, maths and engineering.
Last year we had the chance to collaborate with Anand Kefir for a wonderful kind of digital
internship where girls from Pakistan were able to work with girls from various countries
in Africa with one common cause to promote and encourage more women within STEM and education.
And not only was this internship very lucrative with its own goals, but it also helped to bridge
cultural gaps between people of various ethnic backgrounds.
Hello, my name is Justin Adeti and I'm from Kenya. I interned with Anand Kefir between
June and December 2016 as an intern and later as a senior intern. I joined Anand Kefir with
the sole aim of learning journalism, but as it turned out, Anand Kefir was much more than that.
I learned so much about women empowerment and Anand Kefir presented opportunities which I didn't
even know existed. Through Anand Kefir, I got to know about other brilliant organizations such as
Women Engineers Pakistan, Circle Women and Empower Women, to which I'm now a champion. I also got
the chance of interning with Circle Pakistan. So whenever Anand Kefir niggers in my head,
three words come. Empowerment, networking and opportunities. Anand Kefir could be the one
opportunity I'm looking for that can change your life forever and so drastically. So I encourage you to apply.
My name is Edith Masharia. I am a writer and a blogger and also an activist. In July of 2016,
I got an opportunity to intern with an Anand Kefir digital magazine and it started my journey to
feminism. Our current world is a very misogynistic world. It does not allow young girls to decide
what they can be and it has continued to nature the prerogative that young men are or men are
are the ones that have the ability to lead, are the ones that can do courses in STEM and they
continuously tell young girls they cannot. The magazine has come along and has noticed this
problem and it has created a platform where young girls can come and read stories of young women
and older women who are shuttering the glass ceiling in their various fields, who have become
leaders and who are doctors, who are engineers and are doing very well. So this time I'd like
to urge any young girls who are looking to grow and to learn how to be better to join the Anand
Kefir digital internship. It gives you an opportunity to work with a great team and you get
mentored by the executive director, Sabine herself. She will walk you through and tell you what to do
and she will also show you and mentor you through their program. You learn various skills like how
to use social platforms to spread news and to also be an activist.
