We're on our way to Tijuana, Mexico, where I'll be seeing my dentist at American Biodentics.
I've had all of my silver amalgam fillings removed and replaced with non-toxic materials and my
mouth feels so happy and healthy and clean. And we'll meet up with Peter and Wendy. It's their
first time going down to Mexico and we're looking forward to taking them across the border. We're
going on our Mexican dental holiday. I feel like they really care about my health and well-being
and I've been to dentists in the United States that make me feel like I'm going through a car wash.
The international house of pancakes near the border. Well, we meet finally. Hi Wendy.
All right. Well, it's about magic hour but we all made it. Fantastic. Well, we started off in daylight
and here we are. Loading up. Loading up. I was going down to support Peter who was going down to
have dental work done. But I have friends that have been going to Thailand so I'm pretty familiar
with going out of the country for dental work. But yes, I did have thoughts being a registered nurse
as to the quality of care. Okay, Peter, is your cell phone even with you? Yes. Okay. I'm going to turn
mine off. Turn it off so we don't get charged. So Peter, why are you coming here to Mexico?
Well, this is part of it. This little dental carry and this is another part of it that is going to
need to be replaced. Plus, my whole mouth needs to be assessed for other work and the price is right
down here.
So it's about three or four miles to the hotel and they passed through some really
classical historical areas we can't see.
I think we're going to go to the Grand Bistro for dinner with Peter and Wendy. So it should be a
pretty good introduction to Mexico for them. What is it that motivates you that you have to come down
to Mexico to have your teeth done? I had not been to the dentist in several years, perhaps I should
say many years and I needed a lot of dental work. I figure in the United States the work that I had
done in Mexico would cost more than $10,000. In Mexico, it was around $4,000. And if that is so,
is the experience of coming here intrinsically interesting? Well, what's happened with Marilyn and I is, if it can be made
exciting, then it helps to motivate me to come. There might be somebody out there who's considering coming to Mexico to have their teeth done or
there's some sort of surgery done and they're like sitting on the fence and they have to figure out why would I do that. It's a long drive and I have to cross the border.
I don't know what's going to happen to them and all I can say is that life's an adventure or it's nothing at all. My tooth has come loose. My crown has come loose. This is about a $2,000 crown.
My crown has just come loose in my mouth that just minutes before I go into the dental clinic. Quite a coincidence, I would say, but well-timed.
Do you think that if we have to have this much work done, is worth three trips down here?
You'd have to go for three trips at your dentist wherever it was. What you're doing here is you're just exchanging the expense you pay for the trip.
Believe me, you'll save on the dental work because it'll be three times more expensive than the stage, right? At least twice as expensive.
If we put compost in there because it's so large, it'll start cracking in a couple of years. Oh, I like that. Personally, the dental clinic is more robust.
How long will it last? 10 years, 15 years. They last forever. Your tooth is the one that...
We don't like to put crown unless it's a crown already there. The reason is, even if we leave this piece here...
That's better. It's better because your tooth is a lot. If you have a crown already, we can do that. Yes, I understand.
You've got two crowns, eight and nine, which are the front tooth. One has to be done in good canal. Yes.
When we remove amygans, by following our protocol, we use vitamin C.
The idea of vitamin C is to scavenge any stray molecules or atoms, I suppose, of mercury and other toxic substances
that were mobilized in the process of removing the amalgam fillings, which is comforting.
That would be a concern, so I am happy with the care I've been getting so far.
Do you have a reset Dylan album? Yes.
We're throwing knives into the tree. Two big bags of dead man's bones. Got the noses to the grindstone.
Living in the land of gnaw. Trusting our feet to the hands of gnaw.
We have a negative ion generator. We have a tree in the office that will pick up the gases that will bind to the ionic mercury in the air.
So you have tested for electrolytic currents in my mouth as well. Yes, and you have one that's pretty high.
I'm happy to say that the quality of care in the clinic in Tijuana was just excellent, and my partner is a nurse.
And she was looking for the same factors that I was in making that judgment.
The patient. Yes, the patient. I'm going to end up getting seen too. I'm going to be living down here.
Oh my goodness. We should check in for a week. I have a problem having a pain in my tooth right now.
It looks very strong. We can do this too. Right now it's not so bad because we're not touching black.
At that point. Yes, that point I think. But right here they sell antibiotics, natural antibiotics from Germany.
So how many appointments for you are we talking about? 3-4 appointments.
So I'm very interested in their holistic as well as their traditional approach that's combined for care.
I for instance have Blue Cross insurance for prescriptions, but my copay is more than I can order from Canada or Mexico.
So I'm paying full price there, and it is half of what it would be if I even had my copay here.
And a lot of my friends don't even have insurance anymore, so our options are limited.
I still have options because I can afford health insurance, but most people can't.
Even the middle class friends of mine are having to drop it.
And the copays are so high that you're paying out of pocket for your copay more than you can go to another country and get the same quality, almost, or the same quality of care.
I wonder what other kind of dentist they're talking about they got to give you.
When I came down I figured, small cavity in the front, fix that, get that open.
And then we'll deal with either the rear, maybe we'll get an implant. I didn't even expect to have the silver amalgam replaced, but that's what we started with.
Suppose looking on the bright side, the technology is available to fix what's wrong.
100 years ago, that would not have been the case.

I definitely believe the US should have universal health care to all.
We are spending so many billions on a war that is, in my opinion, unnecessary and foolish.
I think it's scandalous. I have a brother that lives in Denmark. I have a friend from Amsterdam and they can't believe it.
I have to bring articles from the paper. They're a gas that we would allow such a thing that our care is worse than a third world country for our average citizens.
They can't get care. I have so many friends who absolutely can't go to medical care.
I have a cousin who's worked his whole life. He needs a shoulder replacement. He's got a bad hip. He can't go to a doctor.
He also has depression. You can't even go afford the psychiatrist and all the meds that it takes to get your balance.
Because often it takes one or two meds in a trial of a couple of weeks to do it and he doesn't have the money.
There isn't basic care for basic American citizens.
Some people have no health care at all and they are in danger of needing catastrophic care and not having it available to them.
People that don't have money are in the emergency rooms because when my daughter was in a car accident it was absolutely filled with people coming in,
ready to have babies, colds for their kids. The indigent are in the emergency rooms. They have to be seen and they should be being seen in an outside clinic
and let the emergency rooms be for emergencies. But when you have no money and you have a problem, any little problem, everybody flocks the emergency rooms.
The system is completely clogged so that there's a clinic that's both traditional medicine and holistic and that takes care of colds and ear aches and little cuts on your finger and things that are non-emergency.
Then they need to, in cases that aren't imminent, they need to, in my opinion, do holistic medicine before traditional medicine and deal with a wellness plan.
But health care in the United States is a huge problem. I have been lucky to have the VA general coverage that I have but I have not had any dental coverage
and that has been a hardship for me and since my discovery of the Mexican dental facilities I have done some work that I should have done years ago that may well have saved my life.
I don't know about that. I look kind of yellow and you look kind of purple and I think it's because I'm yellow and you're purple. I don't apply color correct.
