Hi, Crossroads. I'm standing in the back of our 38-acre campus along US 23.
It was 10 years ago in 2006 that Crossroads took a bold step of faith and relocated and built a facility that we have come to love throughout the years.
It was one project, however, that remained unfinished and that's the project I want to talk with you about today.
And that's the construction of a large sign right about here so that the people going to and fro on US 23 know without a shadow of a doubt that we are a church family
and so that we can inspire them and so that we can advertise to them the great events that we have going on here at Crossroads.
The Department of Transportation says that 50,000 cars pass our campus daily.
And of those 50,000 cars, there are probably 125,000 people.
Sit on that number for a second. 125,000 people. That's the good news.
The bad news is many of them don't even know that our large facility is a church.
Let me tell you about Frank, one of our newer church members.
Frank passed our church campus many, many times, did not know what the facility was, but one day his curiosity was piqued and so he got off of Exit 1, drove to our campus.
Long story short, he started attending Crossroads, became a follower of Jesus, got baptized, is serving in a ministry, is participating in a small group and just returned from his first mission trip.
And here's what I wonder, how many Franks pass Crossroads every day and don't know that our facility is a church.
It was at the beginning of the church year in 2016 that our elders made a decision to construct a large sign right about here, a large sign when we received the necessary money for that.
And so what I did is I started having informal conversations with people who might be interested in this project.
Let me share with you some really, really great news.
Right now, as I speak, we have $47,000 in cash for this project, plus another $33,000 in commitments.
That means $80,000. Our project is $120,000. I realize that's a high number, but we made a decision early on to do this sign right so that it would serve us and serve our community for many years in the future.
So here's why I'm coming to you today.
I'm asking you to prayerfully consider making a contribution.
I want you to know that as I ask you, Karen and I have made our financial contribution as well.
We celebrate small contributions, medium-sized contributions, and large contributions.
Up to this point, our smallest contribution has been $250, and our largest contribution has been several thousand dollars.
We're wanting to receive these pledges, these commitments, these contributions by Sunday, September 4th.
Now let me close with this.
Frostroads was given birth in the 1860s, and the very first person to come to faith in Jesus was a man by the name of John Clews.
And when Jesus transformed him, immediately he became concerned about his neighbors who did not know Jesus and who had not yet experienced the transformation that he offers.
That DNA of John Clews is alive and well in Frostroads today.
Our mission says that we're committed to reaching the world. Our value regarding this is fearless mission.
And when you think about this project, it's really not about a sign, is it?
No, it's about 125,000 people who pass by us daily, who desperately need Jesus, who desperately need restored, who desperately need healed, and who desperately need restored.
My friend, I thank you for listening to this.
I'm going to keep you updated during the month of August. God bless you, and I want you to know I love, I love this project.
.
