The game just started and I walked in and right away I was greeted by some kids and they had huge smiles on their face so I've already had my day made.
Honestly this event is so much fun for like everyone.
Literally you can bring anyone and have a good time.
I mean there's NHL players for you know some of the people that are here that love hockey but then there's also like a bouncy castle, a DJ, there's just a barbecue.
It's a really good time for everyone so it's a good summertime event to come out to.
We've seen in Scarborough specifically a decrease in enrollment of kids in hockey because of the cost going up.
So in order to produce I mean the next level of superstar and keep our gold medals coming back to Canada and really owning this as Canada's game.
It's important that we all get behind the kids and the future generations to support them both financially and through inspiration and motivation.
The smile on those kids faces is why you love the game you know when I was a kid I wanted to be recognized for what I did to be a professional hockey player and live my dream I guess you could say.
For kids to see that and kind of get excited it's an awesome feeling and they'll come out and have some fun with them and it was awesome.
I'm happy I'm able to be here, I'm happy Wayne invited me to be here and to be able to play some hockey with these kids and at the same time just meet them and take pictures with them and put smiles on their faces.
It's so rewarding and it feels great to be here.
It means a lot to me I remember being younger and being a couple NHL players and not only making my day but I think possibly having outcome on my life just being able to be in the situation where I can do the same for others is really gratifying.
you
