Istanbul, the city between Europe and Asia comes alive at night.
Typical of Istanbul is the blend of oriental flair and the creative spirit of its young residents.
Billion, our Istanbul insider from Berlin, met up with the electronic duo Fujikureta.
The band members Deniz Ertstürk and Sahin Kureta wanted to show us their city at night.
What does Fujikureta mean?
Well, its Sahin's surname is Kureta and my nickname on the internet is Fuji.
It sounds very Japanese and we found it funny that Turkish band singing in English and French has a Japanese name.
We came together and formed the band in 2008.
One day Deniz learned that I make electronic music at home by myself.
So we thought why not try it together?
Istanbul's art and music scene is mainly based in the European Beyoğlu.
Here you'll find traditional life and modern flair side by side.
Numerous clubs, bars and galleries are next to traditional crafts and markets which attract people well into the night.
The city of Istanbul
You can hear all kinds of music in Istanbul.
As a musician in the city that never sleeps, you'll always find melodies, especially at night.
How do you work together?
Also at the time I come up with some small drum beats or chords and I put Deniz in a room, lock her in and I say
we are writing lyrics and the melodies right now because if I don't do like that she waits for inspiration and oh I can't find now.
Oh come on, no I don't do that.
Lively and loud, Istanbul at night is a musical playground for DJs and dance fans.
In one of the most popular clubs, 1111, the party goes on till dawn.
Every five minutes
She says I'm sorry
Every five minutes
The best view of the city is from the roof garden of the Club 360.
Then Deniz and Shaheen show us the Asian part of Istanbul.
We go over the Bosporus Bridge and enter Asia.
In the Kadıköy district of Istanbul, there's a different atmosphere, far from the big city bustle of Beylul.
The road known as Bar Street attracts a young hip audience.
This is Stereo Gun, Deniz and Shaheen's insider tip.
Actually, you know people are relaxed here and it's very nice to come here after stressed moments, get out of that scene and come to Kadıköy Bar.
She loves the mood. She's so cute in Kadıköy.
Back to Beylul, in the European part of the city that Fujikureta calls home.
We bid Deniz and Shaheen farewell until the next night, when the city between Europe and Asia comes to life.
By the way, their track accident can be found in the latest Mercedes-Benz mixed tape compilation, Orchid Blast.
