Dance has taken me to places that I've never even dreamed of.
I've been to China, Australia, France, Wales, Germany, England, Netherlands, I've been to
Denmark, I've been all over the Caribbean, Mexico.
I lived on a cruise ship for a couple months.
I worked for, you know, NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers for like six, seven years.
It creates my whole persona, like my whole confidence, the way I walk, talk is not just
what I do.
This dance is what I live.
You know, as soon as I started doing this, I knew that this was for me.
What's up?
My name is Dacian Santana, aka Busy Brooks, I'm 24 years old from San Juan, Puerto Rico
but I live in Cleveland, Ohio.
So this dance studio, I started by myself, I do everything on my own, I build the website,
I do the marketing, I clean the studio, I teach the classes, I try to blast as much
as I can on Facebook.
I noticed that my scene is not really too big on breaking and I kind of want to just
have more people around, you know, sharing what I do.
You know what I'm saying?
I wanted to uplift the community where I'm from.
I opened the studio right in the hood that I started dancing at and there's lots of kids
around here who dance, who may not like breaking but they dance and they don't really have
a place to dance.
So I want to open my doors for them to come and just to get away from the streets.
The studio offers breaking classes, hip hop classes, Latin dance classes, soon to have
some after school programs to where they just come in and just work on some stuff, whether
they want to, you know, practice or they want to work on their homework, just come in, a
place where they can just come and kick it out.
I first started B-boying back in 2002, my freshman year of high school.
I met up with a bunch of friends of mine who I knew from years prior and that they were
just doing this thing called breaking so I would just go up there and try to like, you
know, do a couple moves and then I farmed out my brother Christian Santana.
He was also getting involved with this.
He was already hanging with some of my other buddies that were breaking.
He was watching this movie called The Freshest Kids and he wouldn't let me watch it but I
sluck into his room, took the movie, that movie just blew up out.
It was a documentary based on the culture and history of breaking.
Just inspired me to not only get down but also inspired me to learn the history of this.
So luckily for me, when I first started, I was already inspired to learn the history
of it rather than just do it for moves so I'm really blessed to have taken the journey
that I have chosen.
A 24 year old man with kids and I'm a father and I'm still doing this dance.
So I've had a good run with this dance and looking for more, looking for more opportunities.
That's it for this video and I'll see you in the next one.
Thanks for watching.
