We live in a world where a vast majority of the furniture created is mass produced out
of man-made materials with the intent of generating excessive profits.
In my experience, furniture like this doesn't last.
The desk I use is a table that my great-great-uncle created out of an old door about 75 years
ago.
It is just as solid today as it was the day he made it.
I believe the reason this table has stood the test of time is because he took great
care of crafting it, it meant something to him.
Since I was a kid, I've always loved the creative process, but I never dreamt I would
be doing this for a living.
After spending eight years in the army, going to Iraq and getting my master's degree,
I landed a great job, but sitting in an office all day left me unfulfilled.
My desire to create couldn't be relegated to a weekend hobby.
Working with my hands is extremely rewarding to me.
A vast majority of my work is done strictly with hand tools, but I try to keep a balance
between modern machines and age-old techniques, because I believe that's what allows me to
deliver the best product, something that will become an heirloom.
For me, making furniture is more than just a job, it's my passion.
Each piece means something to me, it's a unique creation handmade from real wood, and because
of this, I'm confident that each piece will last.
These are the pieces that will be handed down from generation to generation.
