We grew up in a world filled with stories, and today, in celebration of you, we'd like
to share some of our thoughts, along with the help of some of our favorite story companions.
Our youth was filled with films and books and songs that celebrated love in all its glory,
that taught us that love was not just a part of our story.
Because love is, it just is, and nothing you say can make it go away, because it is the
point of why we are here.
As we grew and learned, celebrating what love could be, you found a friend.
One who made you feel like the hero in your own love story, one who perceived in you a
new key they'd only heard some, and the mocking pieces of yourself you found weak knees but
also strength.
You feel stronger and weaker at the same time, you feel excited and at the same time terrified.
The truth is, you don't know what you feel, except you know what kind of person you want
to be.
It's as if you've reached the unreachable and you weren't ready for it.
Jen and Jared, your love has embodied a saga.
Yours is not a storybook love, it is a love that inspires stories yet to be written.
May we gather to celebrate that love, a love greater than any we could describe, a love
that has brought out the best in everyone it touches.
We gather to celebrate a love that has made friends into family.
I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.
I love you, not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of
me.
I love you for the part of me that you bring out.
I love you for putting your hand into my heaped up heart, passing over all the foolish, weak
things that you can't help dimly seeing there, and for drawing out into the light all the
beautiful belongings that no one else had looked quite far enough to find.
I love you because you are helping me to make up the lumber of my life, not a tavern, but
a temple, out of the works of my everyday, not a reproach, but a song.
I love you because you have done more than any creed could have done to make me good,
and more than any fate could have done to make me happy.
You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sign.
You have done it by being yourself.
Perhaps that is what being a friend means after all.
Because when I look at you, I can feel it.
I look at you, and I'm home.
Finally I come to the most important person in my life, Jen.
If there's one person that I need to thank more than anybody, it's you.
Today you look as beautiful as ever, and I'm sure everybody would agree.
Jen, thank you for being my best friend, for supporting me and my family through difficult
times, and for being there to celebrate the best of times.
Thank you for being so patient, in particular when it comes to my line of work, for understanding
that I need to eat food, all of the time, and for finding little Remi, whose appetite
is even bigger than mine.
You're so kind-hearted, you're beautiful, you're intelligent, most of the time.
But most of all, you're loving.
I really do think that fate brought us together, and I'm so unbelievably proud and lucky to
be able to call you my wife.
So for one last time, if you could all raise a glass to my new wife, Jen, to Jen.
Thank you.
Thank you.
