I'm Rod Emory, owner of Emory Motorsports. We're in the Willamette Valley, which is the
center of the Oregon wine country. And we build, maintain and restore vintage horses.
And we're out here on a farm, and it's just a wonderful place to live and work.
The Emory family's been in the Porsche industry since the early 50s. My grandfather was one of the original
automotive customizers in Southern California in the valley. And he was one of the first guys to chop channel
and section cars. And he did it for a lot of the producers and executives at the different Paramount
pictures and Warner Brothers and some of those places. Then in the 60s, he took over the body shop at
Chick Iverson Volkswagen Porsche. And my father, when he was 16 years old, started in the parts department
at the dealership. That's really where our family came into the Porsche world. Then in 1974, my father
started Porsche Parts obsolete, which was supplying vintage Porsche parts to people all over the world.
Growing up, I spent my time kicking around in the shop and building cars, you know, as I could, back in the
back of my dad's shop. And then in 1996, I got married. My wife and I started Emory Motorsports.
And to continue on the things that I learned from my father, the things I learned from my grandfather,
I built a business that really took everything that I loved. And that was building cars, racing cars,
and being with people. And what we do at Emory Motorsports is try to find what type of Porsche
really gets our customers going, whether it's an old 356 coupe, a Speedster, a Spyder, a 906,
whatever it is and their passion, they have a passion for. And most of our clients are people that wish
they could have been race car drivers when they were, you know, young and active.
And instead, they decided to go to college and start a company and make some good money.
And now they need somebody like me to be able to, you know, help them fulfill their dream.
And so we build them a car, we load them up on our trucks, we take them to a race anywhere in the world
that they want to go. And we take care of their needs, everything from coaching them, teaching them how to drive,
feeding them, taking care of their car, helping them with travel arrangements if necessary,
and just taking out the hassle and effort of going racing and allowing them to just enjoy the sport.
