You
You
You
And I saw a studio, an artist with a view
A blank canvas and an easel, all set up on the floor
A tune on the radio, my coat hung on the door
Picking up the brush, I wonder what to craft
A vision of the future, or an expression of the past
Looking down, I realized the painting's good but it's true
For the colors that I have, are yellow, black and blue
Waiting for the rough to be replaced with smooth inside
Waiting for a buzz, and then along comes two
Can't somewhere in the back of your mind, the cancer's there for us to opine
No matter what we try, no matter how we fail
Give up all the reasons why it's all in the detail
Kicking on the blue, cause that's all I'd ever see
Wondering the point, what good can I achieve
Just a touch of yellow now, I am the innocent
And now I have four colors, the fourth one being green
An outburst of emotion, to make these thoughts seem sane
A barrier, a restriction, to hold back all this pain
I've frosted out, I've used the black, I've lost my way
And I can't turn back
Waiting for the rough to be replaced with smooth inside
Waiting for a buzz, and then along comes two
Can't somewhere in the back of your mind, the cancer's there for us to opine
No matter what we try, no matter how we fail
Give up all the reasons why it's all in the detail
Friends deep distraught, glaring at my pain, I've ruined it all, just one burst of rain
I can't be put right, I'll just run away
One last glance before I go, okay
And it's not that bad when you take a step back
And I'm even quite proud of my use of black
It's a pain in the sense of who don't miss the chance to admire the view
Waiting for the rough to be replaced with smooth inside
Waiting for a buzz, and then along comes two
Can't somewhere in the back of your mind, the cancer's there for us to opine
No matter what we try, no matter how we fail
Give up all the reasons why it's all in the detail
It's all in the detail
