Hey, what's going on guys, it's Ricardo Managot again, and this is the Insider series.
I'm sitting with Tanmay.
Tanmay.
Tanmay.
Trying.
Director and writer of The Fragrance Thief, one of our soloists here at The Little Winners.
Right.
Why don't you just tell the people about the film?
So I made this short The Fragrance Thief last summer, and it's supposed to be a teaser
for a feature which I just finished writing.
It's about two kids who were in love, and the girl's family has to move away.
And so 20 years later, the guy, like when he's much older, he goes to like find her.
Tell us a little bit about the style of this film.
It's so peculiar, and it's very bright, there's so many colors.
Right.
Tell us a little bit about what made you want to go in that direction.
So I think there's a lot of things which happened, like a lot of the brightness came
because we shot in the middle of the summer, and it was like so warm.
So like, you know, it was like warm colors made it in.
The other thing which happened was that I think in the summer I watched a lot of like
Roy Anderson and Wes Anderson.
So there was some, there was a lot of influence which came, like all the tripod shots and
all the title cards and all the colors and stuff like that.
But I think I hope the future, the future which I'm writing is, will be a little less
Wes Anderson.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
This story.
Right.
How personal is it?
I think where did you get it from, you know, just a kid growing up looking for this girl,
like what, where did you get that story from?
So I think last year I was, I was writing something and then that made me remember like my oldest
crush.
I think I was in third grade and I liked this girl and I mean we grew up in India and then
it was family, like my parents moved to Canada and I mean years later I met her and it wasn't
anything that I'd imagined.
So it's sort of like a fantasy twist to it.
Yeah.
Nice.
I mean, I know I still wish there were definitely some girls from back in the day that I would
try to go through.
Right.
Yeah.
No, that's, it's amazing.
And tell us a little bit about where you are with the future and I know that's very
important to you.
Yeah.
So the future, I just finished writing a draft the day before and I think there's like a couple
of tweaks which I need to make and then I'm pretty much ready.
The leads, the lead actors, the adult actors, like I have them, I have producer on board.
I mean we don't have any of the money and I mean basically the script is, it's all,
I mean for me, I didn't study film.
For me, what's interesting about film is that I can do things in film which I can't
do in real life.
So I just tell people that we can find your work in a, so.
Yeah.
So you can check out my website.
It's called tanmay.nyc.
That's what I have all of my stuff.
And then I have my Facebook.
I don't have like a, like a, like I have my personal Facebook page.
I don't have like a professional Facebook page.
That's awesome.
Thanks for sitting with me man.
