This Brexit vote comes at an inopportune time for the European Union that has already been
grappling with record high unemployment, terrorism and the largest migration crisis seen since
World War II.
And now the European Commission and institutions will need to do something they have never
done before, decide how to let go of one of its largest, most influential members.
The police, which is allegedly supporting the President, have blocked all the roads
with garbage trucks and big buses, whatever vehicles they could find, and people now are
becoming increasingly frustrated at not being able to move, get home or even make sense
of what exactly the situation in their city and country is.
This is Rahul Zenkit for NDTV in Istanbul.
Now this is being projected as a sign of this failed military coup here in Istanbul.
This is President Erdogan telling the world that this military coup was a failure, it
did not work on the outside.
Turkey may be viewed after this incident, a country being slightly vulnerable perhaps,
a NATO ally that is still susceptible to such instabilities.
On the inside, there are more and more local citizens who think of this as a bit of a cartoon
coup in that this began and finished even before it started.
For NDTV, this is Rahul Zenkit with Gaya in Istanbul.
A discussion of operation police and passports is well with full marks, so obviously a major
operation underway to see what has happened in Mahalbeen metro station.
Right, Rahul now we know that Rahul's happened.
Nick, who was caught up in the explosion at Mahalbeen metro station, spoke to NDTV's Rahul
Zenkit, he narrated the moment the horrific explosions happened at the Brussels metro station.
We stopped at Mahalbeen and so there was a big explosion, a big bang, then I saw it
and then there was a big fireplace coming at us and we in the third wagon were covered
by all sides by fire.
But at that moment I was like, I mean it's cliché, they say this is the end but that's
what I was thinking.
I want very much to meet with her family and speak with them and say sorry, say sorry that
it happened here and I was there to take the photo.
But now with Prime Minister Modi's impending visit to Brussels, India is saying it's no
longer discussing just a free trade agreement but a broad based investment in trade agreement
which will work and focus on drawing more investment to fulfil India's developmental aspirations.
