My name's Wallace, I'm 30 years old and I'm in the middle of a challenge to walk from
John O'Groats at the top of Scotland all the way down to Lanzend, the furthest south
west of the point in the whole of the UK.
It's going to be a trip in the region of about 1,600 miles by the time I've finished
and I'm making a journey via all 16 cancer research UK funded centres across the country.
We're going to take the 14 different cities and this is me here in London at the moment.
The charity that I'm walking for, Cancer Research UK, that I'm trying to raise as much
money as humanly possible for is a charity that means a lot to me and I know it means
a lot to millions of people, not just in this country but all over the world because cancer
is without question a truly, truly horrible problem that we need to try and beat.
There are people, scientists, men and women working in laboratories all over this country
here that are being funded by Cancer Research UK to do whatever they can to beat the difficult
task ahead of us which is finding better treatments, diagnoses, therapies for dealing with cancer
and I wanted to help with that because there is nobody that won't be affected at some point
in some way during their lives by cancer.
The journey I'm making is one that I'm doing on my own on the road, every step that I make
along the journey is being done with this rucksack and with the support that I have
behind me from family, friends and loved ones through the internet.
We've built up quite a healthy following now on Facebook and Twitter.
I'm documenting the journey that I'm making on YouTube and it's been fantastic to have
this incredible sense of support along the way.
I hope that by the time I reach the end there will be tens of thousands of pounds that we've
raised together as a collective group and I hope that we will have raised a lot of awareness
at the same time as to not only what a phenomenal challenge lays ahead of us in trying to deal
with cancer but the incredible work that is being done on a daily basis to do just that,
to beat it.
The journey that we're making is being tweeted as often as possible through my Twitter account
which is wares underscore wallace and on Facebook you can find me at www.facebook.com slash wareswallace.
So far we've raised almost £15,000 on the wareswallace project but there's a lot of
people who are still to donate I think some of you are watching now possibly you in particular
definitely not donated definitely not donated so www.justgiving.com slash wareswallace make
your donation now if you can please every penny really does come thank you.
