Hi, my name is Greg Tomosevic, I'm a filmmaker and time-lapse shooter at Landau Productions
and today I'm reviewing the OmniHead and the OmniSlider from Ditto Gear.
So we've taken everything outside of the box now, we've got the Tritto, we've got the OmniHead,
I'm going to take that, put that on the OmniSlider, cable it and then use it on a live shoot.
So the OmniSlider, this is the 1.5 OmniSlider, it comes in a really nice case as well.
But the OmniHead and OmniSlider can be assembled and used by one person but it's always nicer
and it's always easier to have two people say lifting you up, putting you on a tripod
etc. etc. Really nice support feed which means that you can put it on the floor and they
just support the OmniSlider and after a while it gets a little bit steadier and it's going
to stop, there we go.
Tighten it a little bit, not too much, I don't like tightening things a little bit too much.
So this is the full kit with the OmniSlider and the OmniHead and the Tritto box.
It takes about 10-15 minutes to set this whole thing up, there's quite a bit, a few cables
because there's so many access and you need to power it all up and cables go into the
OmniSlider and OmniHead through to the Tritto box.
But the calibration of it is really simple, do all of the access at the same time or do
them individually and it takes you about 5 minutes to learn it.
One of my favorite things about it is it's damping, you can dampen it so it doesn't stop
immediately when you stop and when you start as well, it actually slows down and gradually
either stops or starts.
So we can either start the OmniHead like this and stop immediately or we can dampen it so
you have a knob and then you dampen it a little bit and then you start and it gradually starts
and then I let go and it gradually goes down.
So it was incredibly steady and even moving it from one side to the other just using the
slider was incredibly precise, something you couldn't do on a handheld slider because it's
mechanical and it just works perfectly.
So the movement on all three axes, really steady and really precise, so I thought I'll
put it in the test and put the 70 to 200mm on 200mm and it was flawless.
My favorite bit I think was the sort of parallax movement where you're going along the track
while panning as well so you go like this and that just creates such a nice and cinematic
look and it's something that took me about an hour to learn and obviously I practiced
with a Trinto for about two days to actually know how to shoot with it.
When you know how to shoot with it, it's just such a powerful tool.
As an alternative to using the OmniHead and Omni Slider live with the Trinto, you can
use the DittoGear Evolution software which we can have as an app on your iPads or any
other tablets.
You can use it in live mode or you can use it for time lapses which is something that
I'm really excited about.
Thanks for watching this review and please check our web page for some more DittoGear
