Welcome to Liquid Thought. Join us in building mindful intelligence so you can thrive in
our dynamic world. We invite you to join us in our PIST analysis. Here we will do a workout
to build insights into the most common thoughts that often undermine our performance. And
this can occur when we really want to succeed and the results matter. We will examine the three
key thoughts that most commonly do us harm. This was identified by Martin Seligman through
his research into tens of thousands of people who is often referred to as the father of positive
psychology and a strong force behind the wellness movement that we experience today.
Let's begin by looking at our hot thoughts. These are the thoughts that prompt us to lose hope
and underachieve. These hot thoughts automatically occur when we sense a threat.
This is programmed into our DNA and it happens without our awareness a lot of the time.
We now invite you to join us in challenging your most common hot thoughts.
Challenge them with some smart questions that put them in perspective and put the power back
in your hands. This perfect will guide you as you build mindful intelligence in challenging
situations. Let's consider the three main questions that depict our automatic hot thoughts.
When things go wrong is one of the first thoughts a personal one?
When you're thinking it's all my fault it's personal it's all about me somehow this is
your fault you're not worthy you're not good enough you don't deserve the success.
Then let go of blame.
Stop and think. Do others share some responsibility for what happened?
Was some of this beyond your control? Well no one's perfect except Miss P of course.
If something bad happens and your immediate feeling is it's going to ruin everything it will
pervade everything in your life. Everybody will see me in a bad light nothing will survive this
the fallout it will colour everything in a gray mist fun I will have no joy.
Well lift the cloud there is no one thing that is going to colour everything.
Stop and shift your focus towards something more specific first identify what specifically
is going to be impacted by this balance it with positives you have lost ground in one area
but where are you still strong? And Miss Perfect says it is what it is just let it go.
The final hot thought is that it's permanent things will always be bad from now on sometimes
it really does feel like that but step back and take a shift in time and separate now from
tomorrow in other words how will you remember this incident in five years time when you look back on it
just imagine what you're going to think of your pain and your thoughts today
and then in five years think of how many great things you will have done by then
move on to something you can do now there is something that's in your power that you can
impact positively what is it keep it temporary and move on to something you can do now go and do it now
when you're done go to the thought sheet and download and construct the little pyramid
this will give you a record of the three Ps and when one comes to mind simply challenge it
with the three sentences you have on hand good luck and tell us how the three Ps impact on your
life
