This is Tropical Music, episode 10.
["Tropical Music"]
And today we're gonna continue with the arrangement
of my song, El Edén de la piel.
But before, let's go to my bar.
Well, hello, and welcome to this 10th episode of Tropical Music.
And to celebrate this milestone,
I'm gonna prepare you one of my favorite shots.
And it's a drink that is guaranteed to liven up any party.
Especially if the party's kind of boring, people are not really in the mood.
And you serve them this, I guarantee you in 15, 20 minutes,
everybody's gonna be jumping and dancing.
The drink consists of the ingredients are
Jagermeister, ghost lager, and your favorite vodka in my case
is gonna be Kelo one.
I like great goose.
I like it with great goose as well.
And pretty much equal quantities of each of these liquors.
And here we go.
Let's do a little bit of...
Let's just do a...
Let's do two, let's do two.
Two measurements of Jagermeister.
Two measurements of ghost lager.
And now let's pour some vodka.
I haven't drunk already and I'm already putting the wrong top on the wrong thing.
And my secret is let's put a little bit more vodka than the rest of the stuff
because the vodka, they can't really feel it.
With these two things in the same drink.
And here we go, I come back here, I have to mine this panzer.
I have my Kelo one and let's do one, two.
Now what the heck, let's do three vodka.
And the good thing about the Kelo one is so smooth
that you can't really feel the alcohol from the Kelo one.
Now, let's shake it.
Don't break it, shake it.
You shake it until you get a brain freeze in your hands,
or a hand freeze would that be right?
Shake it and shake it and shake it.
Until you can't hold it no more.
You can't hold it no more, you shake it a little more.
Ah, that hurts.
And now we serve it in a nice shot glass.
And that's it.
And I call it a modified liquid cocaine
because the main ingredients are the ones from liquid cocaine,
but it's modified.
And salud.
Mmm, that came out good.
The good thing is, since it is kind of a sweet drink,
you don't feel the alcohol almost at all,
a little bit in the finish.
Now, do be careful.
Things could get out of hand.
Drink responsible, now let's go make some music.
Okay, here we are.
Let's continue with this song.
Salud, happy 10th anniversary, no, 10th episode.
And let's listen to what we have this song so far
so we know where we are.
Here we go.
Eh, come on, Apple, don't do that to me.
That's the introduction of the song.
We have that loop of cymbals and clauet
and piano bass and a little bit of pad.
And a fakey-fakey trumpet that sounds like,
it's like a mix of harmonica with trumpet.
It's weird.
And the rhythm, we already have marcha rhythm,
which is the basic rhythm of the salsa.
Let's do a little bridge here.
And now let's start singing.
And we're going to start recording.
It's the same melody but with rhythm.
Let me erase that, that I had there.
So let's go to my loops and I have my favorites here.
And we're going to do Cuban funk,
a conga, one, I believe it is.
No, it was one.
Yeah, the same conga.
We start right here in this measure.
We're going to do funk, bongo.
No, number one, number one.
That's it, which is the same one we used
in the introduction of the song.
And we're going to do Latin de timbal.
That timbal is called cascara, as I've told you.
And I'm not sure which I should do a guiro.
Maybe I'll save the guiro for the faster part of the song.
Let's extend these loops.
In logic, you put the mouse at the top right corner
and it creates a loop.
Let's loop it four times.
Let's do the same with the bongo.
So there.
And if it's too much, we can always erase it afterwards, of course.
And the timbal.
That's the rhythmic bass that I need to lay out my other instruments on top of that.
I'm not paying attention when I'm talking on the microphone.
Maybe you're not listening to me.
What can I tell you?
That's a beautiful electric bass.
And let's do this portion of the song.
It's the same.
Let's leave it at that.
Now let's do the piano.
The piano that I'm going to do now is the rhythmic piano for salsa,
which is called tumbao.
And it goes like this, I'm going to use this inversion.
Going up.
And now in this part, what I would sing is.
And so on and so forth.
Guess what?
The tape ran out of the camera.
Might as well, we're almost out of time anyways.
And I have a question for you, the question of the day is of the week.
Are you going to get the new iPhone?
I have the old one, but the screen is cracked.
This tool works, but the screen is cracked.
So I'm probably going to buy the bullet and spend another $200.
After I spend $600 for this one.
But anyway, send me an email, podcast, at RobertTikoMusic.com.
And I'll see you next time.
Now I leave you with a clip from Kaiocho 2008 from a couple of months ago.
Enjoy.
Now I leave you with a clip from Kaiocho 2008.
Now I leave you with a clip from Kaiocho 2008.
Now I leave you with a clip from Kaiocho 2008.
