There's no star-spangled banner, and there's nothing here to see except stare at cloudy
skies and sip milky English tea.
You're looking for the land of the free and home of the brave?
Sorry mate, that's not how we do round here.
Stay though if it's politically correct madness, you crave.
We chant, God save the queen, yet who actually knows what the hell that means?
How many people know all the words of the song and don't feel a little embarrassed when
it's time to sing along?
First of all, I don't consider myself as British, I consider myself as an African person living
in Britain.
Britishness means to me, being part of Britain, I'm from Wales, so to me I'm not English.
Britishness means freedom, more than anything, it means freedom.
Freedom to come and go as you please, live your life as you like it.
And do your best for your neighbours.
Britishness means being part of a community, I think, of everyone coming together and,
I don't know, being a little bit patriotic, so it's a good thing.
Everybody kind of gets in, you've got the British flag, you've got the United Kingdom flags,
and everybody, all the community comes together, which is basically a British feel, so that's
why it makes me feel more British.
I like it how everyone can come together, and a couple of hours ago, or half an hour
ago, we sang God Save Our Queen and stuff, so it's good.
Because I don't even know that many people that hate patriotic and stuff, so it's nice.
Being part of Britain, I'm from Wales, so to me I'm not English, I'm Welsh, but I'm British.
I'm proud to be British, proud to be Welsh.
I think the Jubilee time is particularly a time where we celebrate our Britishness,
so I'm proud of the country I live in.
I think it has its faults, but I'm still very proud of where we live and the people I meet.
I think it's all about the people really, and I think British people are great.
You wonder sometimes about the stiff upper lip that we're supposed to have, and we don't
always show how we feel.
But I've got many friends and people I know who are really warm, inspiring people.
God Save Our Queen!
Today, before today, I wasn't really feeling all the damn Jubilee celebrations, but actually
being a part, being a part of the Queen today, it actually kind of made me feel a bit more British.
I mean, we're integrating this, the names of grandkids, all different races mixing together.
And essentially, that's what Northern Britain is about.
