In this video tutorial, we will show you how to log your food and how to create a meal.
First, how to log your food. Open the MyFitnessPal app.
Once open, you should see the summary screen that displays your daily summary.
Tap on the blue Add to Diary button. Select the category for entry.
This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack. Here you have several options for
adding.
If the food has a barcode, it can be added by tapping the barcode icon and then scanning
the barcode. You may also enter items by tapping a description into the search box.
Once entered, tap the blue Search button in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
It will then search the database and display some options that may match your search criteria
under the blue bar that says Search Results. If you see your match under Results, select
it. The Add Food screen will open, allowing you to edit the serving size and number of
servings consumed. Tap on the Serving Size tab.
Be sure to check the units of measurements, like grams, ounces, or cups.
If the serving sizes aren't a good match, select the back arrow in the upper left corner
of the screen, and then once more to go back to the search page.
Once you find another match, select it. To adjust the serving size, select the Serving
Size tab and choose the appropriate size. You can then adjust the amount consumed by
selecting the number of servings tab. When finished, select the white check symbol in
the upper right hand corner of the screen. To continue adding foods, you will click on
the white plus symbol in the upper right hand corner and then repeat the previous steps.
You may also add foods previously added to your log. Select the plus icon and choose
a meal. You can either choose the recent or frequent tab located under the search box.
Select the food you wish to add and select it. You can then edit the serving size and
amount consumed. Once finished, select the check icon in the upper right hand corner.
This food is now added to your log. To add multiple items at once, select the circular
icons in the lower center of the screen to edit any of the items.
Select the food. You may choose a different meal to add the food to.
Select the serving size or the number of servings consumed.
Items can be edited at any time. To delete an item, select the pencil icon
in the lower center of the screen and tap on the item you wish to delete.
Next, select the red delete tab in the lower center of the screen.
Once you're done logging for the day, tap on the finished logging for today button.
Select the complete entry tab. This will bring you to the entry complete page.
Finally, tap the X in the upper left corner. Then tap the menu icon in the upper left hand
corner and select home. This will take you to diary summary.
Now we will show you how to create a meal. Click on the tool icon
located in the blue meal category bar. There are three options.
The first option is to save the meal. Select the save a meal option.
Enter in the name of the meal as you would like it to be saved.
Click the blue done button in the lower left hand corner and then check icon in the upper
right hand corner. You can now dismiss the alert that your meal was created.
The next time you want to use this meal, click add in the top right corner.
Select the appropriate category and then click the meals tab to locate your
created meal. Select the meal and then tap on the check
icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Your meal is now added to your diary. The other two options are copy meal today
and copy meal to today. If you'd like to add the same meal to a
different day, you will choose the copy meal to date tab.
Again, use the tool icon and then select copy meal to date.
You will be prompted to choose a date to copy the meal to.
Once selected, this meal will automatically be entered in for that day.
The copy meal to today tab will copy the meal into the current day.
Once finished, again select finish logging for today.
This completes the MyFitnessPal video tutorial series.
You are now ready to begin using your app.
