Okay, hey, this is Robert from SDParkFlyers.com, I've had a lot of people email and ask me
how I cut my 45 bevels on all my hinge surfaces, so I'm going to show you.
What you need is you're going to need two metal straight edge rulers.
I taped the first one to the edge of my board here, so I have a nice clean edge.
I have two pieces of EPP foam here, and what this is going to just represent is a little
like router piece, so I can show you how to make a simple 45 cut.
The magic tool that's required to make all this happen is this handheld hot wire cutter.
What it is, is it's just a plastic grip with like a bow, metal bow, and there's a fine,
fine piece of music wire strung across here, and that's what does all the cutting.
So let me show you how I set this up to work.
Take the surfaces that you want to cut, and lay the first piece of foam on the edge of
your first ruler that's taped to the board.
Taking your other roller, flip it over, leaving about the thickness here, the white area you
see here, the thickness here, about the same exact thickness of the foam on the side edge
here.
The way when you lay your wire on here and you pass it by, it cuts perfect 45.
Let me show you, just hold the ruler in place, pass the wire along the foam, press it up
against the metal rollers, and that's it.
Take the foam off here, and there we have a perfect 45, and then we're going to do the
same thing on the rudder here.
Make sure we cut the right side here, just lay it over here like this, make sure it's
flat.
Put the two pieces together, perfect 45 every time.
That's it, pretty simple, tape it together, and you have a perfect 45, thanks.
