What's up, Brite?
What's up, Brite?
Yeah, drums are awesome.
I'm watching my kids.
I'm watching my youngest, who's six.
I'm kind of giving him lessons right now because I can do that for where he's at right now.
Probably pretty quickly, I won't be able to help him.
But, you know, just watching him play and then my oldest,
he plays bass, him hopping on the drums.
And, you know, a lot of times I'm telling him, like,
sorry, you guys, you kind of have no choice.
You're around all this.
You have it in you, you know, and it's really neat to see it,
see them enjoy it and exercise it and have the ability.
I mean, I look at them, both of them, just, like,
I already feel like they're better than me.
Like, I can just tell, like, they're going to be monsters if they want to keep with it.
Right now they have an interest, but I don't know if that'll last.
And I'm not really concerned about it.
I just want them to love what they do.
I don't care what it is, like, just find enjoyment in what you do.
Do something you love.
Or, find the thing that will allow you to do the thing you love
and not hog up all your time so that you can keep that over there
and then the thing you love, you can keep that.
That's the purist it can be.
If you're not relying on that for anything
and you just do it because of the sheer desire to do it,
that's the purist.
That's all personal.
That all depends on the person's drive.
I mean, I see cats at skate parks all day long
who are doing it for themselves, skating harder than pros.
It's all a personal drive.
These are cats that have jobs.
That's what I'm saying.
They're doing it.
They're not entertaining some idea of turning pro.
They love skateboarding.
They have a day job.
This is their time to skate.
They're not feeling pressure to go skate.
They're not feeling like they have to do something.
It's pure.
It's, I want to do it.
I'm going to do it.
It's how we started skating.
It's how we got to that place.
Once you get sponsored, once you start making money,
then you have the dilution that's, you have the balance.
When you do something for so long,
you have to recharge yourself mentally, physically.
And yeah, there are times, you know,
I've been pro for 24 years,
skated for six years before I turned pro.
And that's a long time to be doing the same thing.
You're constantly trying to find inspiration and things.
Thankfully, it's there.
Thankfully, I care about it long enough to search for it.
But yeah, when you do, anybody does anything for that long.
You have to figure out ways to refuel the tank.
