To Berkulosis in Texas, Harvard tells its students that gender changes from day to day
and Skywatch TV manages to annoy the left.
It's Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
I'm Derek Gilbert.
First up, President Donald Trump is calling North Korea a real threat to the world.
His administration is planning to brief all 100 United States senators tomorrow on the
situation in North Korea.
This unusual briefing is not something that happens very often.
He's inviting the senators to the White House for this briefing.
Comes after Trump called North Korea's continued belligerence, criticized North Korea's continued
belligerence in a phone call to China's President Xi Jinping on Sunday in a separate call Monday.
We'll talk with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and discuss the urgent security challenge
posed by North Korea.
Tomorrow then, Wednesday, going to be a very busy day.
Not only is that Senate briefing scheduled at the White House, Operation Gotham Shield,
which is an exercise involving FEMA, Homeland Security, and a number of law enforcement
and military agencies, will take place in New York, specifically Manhattan.
It's an exercise that will simulate the impact of a nuclear blast over New York City.
That will conclude tomorrow.
And now we learn that law enforcement officials and other first responders will participate
in a full-scale exercise to prepare for the possibility of a complex, coordinated terror
attack on the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
The exercise will involve hundreds of police, fire, and emergency medical service personnel
and other volunteers.
On a more encouraging note, we learned that members of the cabinet, President Trump's
cabinet, are meeting and gathering for Bible study in prayer on a weekly basis.
Vice President Mike Pence and eight cabinet secretaries are sponsoring these sessions,
which occur every week in Washington.
It's led by the founder of Capitol Ministries, Ralph Drollinger, who started working on getting
these Bible studies together after the Trump transition team began coordinating its move
to the White House.
Representatives include Vice President Pence, Secretaries Betsy DeVos, Ben Carson, Sonny
Perdue, Rick Perry, Tom Price, and Jeff Sessions, the EPA Administrator, Scott Pruitt, and
CIA Director, Mike Pompeo.
The weekend vote in France, sending ripples through the political elite in Europe, was
a huge defeat for the French establishment.
The two center-right and center-left groupings had basically controlled French politics for
the last 60 years.
The two leading vote-getters were independent centrist Emmanuel Macron.
This was his first attempt at running for major office.
And National Front's Marine Le Pen, who has succeeded in recent years in detoxifying her
anti-immigrant party's image, which had been perceived as openly racist and sympathetic
to Nazi sentiment.
Her father had led the party until just a couple of years ago.
She gathered enough votes to qualify for the runoff election, the second round, which is
coming up within two weeks.
The runoff campaign will feature a very sharp contrast between the pro-EU, pro-globalization
worldview led by Macron, and Le Pen's call for close borders and getting out of the Eurozone.
Voters at the moment show Macron winning handily, but remember last November where we went into
election night here in the U.S., and experts gave Hillary Clinton about a 90% chance of
victory until the votes were actually counted.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis is in Afghanistan Tuesday.
He's assessing the possibility of sending more troops into that country.
He arrived there Monday, the visit coming on the heels of a weekend attack on a northern
Afghan army base by the Taliban.
130 Afghans at least were killed.
The country's Army Chief and Defense Minister resigned after the attack.
This was the biggest ever attack on an Afghan army base by the Taliban.
Russia has announced plans to build what they're calling the world's largest aircraft carrier
to take on the United States Nimitz aircraft carriers, or class carriers, the new storm
craft called Project 23E000E could cost up to $17.5 billion U.S. apiece and enter military
service by 2030.
This is according to Russian state media.
These carriers would be powered by nuclear reactors, hold up to 90 aircraft, but the
specifications appear very similar to U.S. Nimitz class ships.
In fact, an expert quoted by Russian media said the ship will be based on the design
for the new American carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford.
The Islamic State determined to close in on Israel's borders.
This is according to a Gaza-based Palestinian jihadist and Islamic State supporter Abu Bakr
al-Makdisi.
He is quoted in an interview by Breitbart Jerusalem.
Al-Makdisi said that it's clear that the goal of the brothers is to close in on all
sides in the direction of occupying Palestine and fight the Jews with the intent of expelling
them from Islamic lands.
And despite the Islamic State's ongoing battlefronts in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, and Afghanistan,
Al-Makdisi said our guiding compass is still the liberation of Jerusalem.
Now, having said that, there are other experts who are looking at their real goal and that
is to gain credibility within the Islamic world.
It's possible that the Saudis have more to worry about from the Islamic State than Israel,
at least in the short term.
Now, having said that, we still need to deal with issues here inside our borders in the
United States, a Muslim man showed off a number of guns on Facebook Live outside of a Christian
conference.
Of course, this netted in with account of making terrorist threats.
Forty-five-year-old Ahab Abdul-Mattah Jaber, probably pronouncing it incorrectly, charged
with making terrorist threats after he slipped into a worldview weekend conference in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota, earlier this month, featured a message from Shahram Hadian, a former Muslim
turned Christian.
He leads Truth in Love Ministries in Spokane, Washington.
The event was protested by about 70 members of the Islamic Center of Sioux Falls who believed
that the gathering was Islamophobic.
Coming up, gender can change from day to day.
Harvard says so, so it must be true, right?
That's ahead on Skywatch TV.

The world's largest cereal manufacturer, Kellogg's, has spent millions of dollars on
research to counter claims that its products are fueling an obesity crisis in our children.
The food giant has been attacked for putting more sugar in some of its breakfast cereals
than is found in cake, donuts, and ice cream.
For example, a bowl of crunchy nut cereal can contain more than half of the recommended
maximum intake of sugar for a six-year-old child.
But now the Sunday Times in England has found that Kellogg's helped to finance a report
published in a medical journal in December attacking the UK government's recommendations
to cut sugar intake.
It's also funded British studies suggesting that eating cereals may help children maintain
a healthy weight.
I had a doctor who takes a look at the glycemic impact of various foods that we eat.
And I was told by this doctor about three years ago that eating a bowl of breakfast
cereal, a bowl of breakfast cereal with skim milk, has a glycemic impact on your body equivalent
to eating a candy bar for breakfast.
Sharon you may have noticed over the last year and a half has lost over a hundred pounds
mainly by cutting out carbohydrates and sugar.
For breakfast every day she eats a big slice of whole grain toast with two tablespoons
of butter.
The butter's not the problem.
It's the junk carbs and the sugar.
Speaking of health, an uncomfortably high number of positive test results for tuberculosis
came back from a West Texas border senior daycare center.
City health officials in El Paso, Texas are on alert now as they monitor these cases
to see if there are any new cases of TB popping up in their city.
The City of El Paso Department of Public Health confirmed last Wednesday that 65 TB tests
came back positive after a preliminary test of 199 individuals back in April.
The World Health Organization lists TB as one of the 10 leading causes of death on planet
earth but it is curable with proper treatment.
The office of BGLTQ Student Life at Harvard has released new school sponsored guidelines
telling students to fight transphobia and get the facts about gender diversity.
The guide which was distributed to students on campus says that there are more than two
sexes, male and female, and that gender is fluid and changing, adding that someone's
gender identity can be affirmed, expressed in many ways and even change from day to day.
Sex assigned at birth and gender identity are not necessarily the same according to
the flyer.
Notice the verbiage there.
Sex assigned at birth.
You are not born a boy or a girl.
The doctors, your parents, the community at large assign a gender to you and then you're
stuck with it for life.
That is what they are implying here.
It's not what they're implying, it's what they're openly saying.
Anyway, according to this flyer, gender identity, expression, sexual orientation, hormonal makeup,
physical anatomy, all of these things are not necessarily what defines your gender,
which again can be either or neither both depending on your mood on any given day.
Five year olds can tell the difference.
We have so much learning that we have literally gone insane.
The United Methodist Church is dealing with an issue regarding sexuality right now.
Their first openly gay bishop was appointed last year, which led to an immediate challenge,
which is being heard as we speak today, Tuesday.
Dr. Karen Alavado at a hearing today in Newark, New Jersey, accompanied by fellow bishops
from the UMC's Western jurisdiction, her wife, mother and childhood pastor, LGBT clergy
and their supporters are praying outside this meeting and wearing t-shirts that bear the
first names only of clergy who would risk losing their credentials if they were outed.
The Judicial Council is expected to issue a ruling in a few days.
The United Methodist Church has 12.8 million members.
It's the third largest in the U.S. was already in turmoil wrestling with same sex relationships
when Alavado was elected last year.
Back in 1972, Methodist approved language calling same sex relationships incompatible
with Christian teaching.
But the last year at their annual conference, divisions within the church erupted, threatening
a schism inside the United Methodist Church.
At one point, LGBT advocates on the perimeter of one session lay on the floor with rainbow
colored duct tape over their mouths.
In a vote, which was much narrower than us, call us traditionalists or fundamentalists,
would have thought, 428-405, the conference delayed consideration of a number of LGBT-related
proposals and instead created a panel called the Commission on a Way Forward, which is
to review church policy on human sexuality with a secondary goal, apparently, of trying
to find a way to keep the church together.
In realistic terms, that's known as kicking the can down the road.
I was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church from high school through adulthood
and saw the ELCA essentially do the same thing, designate a panel to investigate research,
human sexuality.
Eventually, well, the ELCA is now in full communion with the Episcopal Church USA, which in my
mind has pushed them outside the bounds of Christian orthodoxy, speaking of which, an
article at a website for the Institute on Religion and Democracy, which is a group that
promotes biblical and Christian orthodoxy, revealed that Dr. Olaveto, who is formerly
a faculty member at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, has preached
over the years a number of sermons that are way outside the bounds of Christian orthodoxy.
For example, Dr. Olaveto repudiated at length what she called the theology of election and
chosenness that she traced in the Bible from God, choosing Isaac over Ishmael, perhaps
the reason for her sign, to the Jews being God's chosen people through the New Testament
teaching that followers of Jesus Christ have a special relationship with God that non-Christians
don't have.
In another sermon, Dr. Olaveto criticized the apostle Paul for casting a demon out of the
slave girl.
That's the incident from Acts chapter 16, verses 16 through 18.
She had a familiar spirit that was, you know, fortune telling basically, and that's how
she earned a living for her masters.
Olaveto encouraged the audience hearing her sermon to question the traditional interpretation
that the exorcism of the demon was an act of liberation for the girl.
Get that.
Dr. Olaveto was defending the demon, essentially defending the demon.
She asserted that Paul was not motivated by compassion for the girl.
Noted there was nowhere in the text that said she eventually found salvation.
She went on to defend the demon's possession of the slave as the demon helped enrich her
owners, provided a livelihood for the girl's masters, and said that by casting the demon
out of the girl, Paul made her life worse off than it had been before as she was now
damaged goods.
Really?
Is our hope in Jesus Christ for how he's going to impact us in this life only?
Because if it is, as Paul said, then we are the most miserable of all men.
Bottom line here, forget about Dr. Olaveto's sexual orientation.
On theological grounds alone, you have to ask, why did the United Methodist Church even
allow her to remain in the pulpit, much less make her a bishop?
Well, watch what happens here because the United Methodist Church, looking in as an
outsider, so I'm not privy to any inside information, but looking in as an outsider,
it appears to me that the UMC has some real issues that it needs to wrestle with, and
perhaps a schism is the best way forward for the remnant who still holds to biblical
authority.
A bit of astronomical news.
There may not be a Planet Nine after all.
Enthusiasm has really ramped up over the last couple of years as astronomers have said they
found gravitational influences on some of the outer planets that indicate the presence
of a Planet Nine, or Planet X, or Planet Nibiru, something out beyond Neptune that's rather
sizable.
But now researchers are making other discoveries that question the existence of Planet Nine.
For example, a newly discovered minute planet, you can see the really weird orbit there that's
highlighted in red.
I mean, Neptune is the real small blue circle in the very center of that picture, okay?
That's the size scale that we're talking about here.
This small planet, designated Sy99, is about the size of Wales in the UK, not Wales in
the ocean, but Wales in the United Kingdom.
The discovery of Sy99 doesn't prove or disprove the existence of Planet Nine, but the orbit
of Sy99, if Planet Nine existed, wouldn't look like this at all.
Computer models show that if Planet Nine existed, it would change the orbit of Sy99 to the
point that it would either fling it out of the solar system altogether, or poke it into
an orbit so weird that we would never have detected it.
So there may be a Planet Nine or Planet X somewhere out there, but it looks like it's
back to the drawing board for finding it at all.
And finally, something I can finally cross off my bucket list, we annoyed the Liberals
enough that we finally got featured at the Liberal Watchdog site, Right Wing Watch.
They noticed our broadcast program a couple of weeks ago with Lieutenant Colonel Bob McGinnis
about witchcraft in Washington.
The odd thing is that when they reported this to their readers, they didn't even comment
on it.
They noted it straight, basically summarized the topics of discussion during the program.
I guess the idea is that their readers would understand, without any additional explanation,
why discussing the occult influences on politicians in Washington is so crazy that they wouldn't
need to add any commentary.
Well, we take that as high praise.
So thank you, Right Wing Watch.
I will be speaking on the influence of the Watchers and the gods who rebelled against
their Creator this Sunday in Joplin, Missouri.
If you're in the area, you are welcome to join us.
I'll be at Southside Apostolic Trinity Faith Church in Joplin, Missouri that's in South
Main Street speaking at the morning service at 10.45 a.m.
And then in the afternoon at 2 p.m., in fact, it'll be a little potluck meal before I get
up to talk.
So I'll have a little extra coffee so I don't fall asleep before getting up to speak.
This is basically the subject material of the book, The Great Inception, the fact that
God calls these gods in the Bible real and they really, really influence and impact our
world today.
And I'll be showing you in the talks exactly where you can find some specific incidents
in the Bible that are nothing if not supernatural showdowns between God the Creator and these
small G gods who rebelled against Him.
Again, Southside Apostolic Faith Church in Joplin, Missouri this Sunday at 10.45 a.m.
and again at 2 p.m.
You'll find us online at skywatchtv.com including links to all of our social media sites and
you'll find my stuff online including some video snippets from presentations about the
book The Great Inception at my website, DerekPGilbert.com.
Thank you for watching As We Keep Watch.
