Besides teaching, I involve in the community members of the board of directors for the
Meresto Cambodian Buddhist Society. That is for at least 28 years at Meresto. Besides helping the
community, I am also the president of the CNRP Cambodian National Rescue Party for Northern
California. It's only fake democracy in Cambodia. They said, if you hear the word, liberal
democracy and pluralism, and there's no democracy there. People, if they want to assemble, they
want to meet without asking the authority in their village or in the district, they would be
punished. And many people are suffering because of the land grabbing. The government allowed the
tycoon to grab the innocent people's land to be their own. And when the people protested,
they usually end up in jail. I would like to save Cambodia from being extinct or being ruled by
Vietnam, just like Khmer crown. And also, we don't want Cambodia to be like Champa. Cambodia
should be independent. And the people should live freely. As we know, many of us know in the
world that Hun Sen has been ruling for many years. And the people have been suffering, suffering
because they did not have the freedom of speech. They don't have the freedom of speech. They
don't have the freedom of press. They don't have the freedom of assembly or protest. They
only have freedom of religion, which almost means nothing to the people. And also, the Cambodian
people's life has been suffered greatly. So I, myself, born in Cambodia and seeing all of these
suffering going on in the country, would like to make a change.
I've been there for two months, a month before the election. And I've been there since the beginning
of June. And I left August 1st right back in the United States. During my time there, my stay there,
I observed several irregularities during the election process and during the campaign. First,
during the registration for the people to vote. They did not create a list for all the people
that should be able to vote. In fact, the information that they got received from the
people, they manipulate the names, like they switch the last name to the first name. And
sometimes they change the birth date. And then on the day of the voting, people go into the
polling station to vote and say, oh, your name is wrong. And you cannot vote. You have to go to,
here, you have to go to another station. And when they go to another station, they say, oh,
no, your name is not there. After that, during the, on the day of the election, people have been
shipped from a bus from other cities to vote in my area. They've been bused from Batobong or from
Phnom Penh. There are 22 cars coming from the Phnom Penh and Batobong area to vote in Coherla.
And we said, no, these people have not been, they don't leave, they did not leave there. How
come, how come they could vote there? And there was 116 of them. And the third irregularity,
that the most powerful one can go from polling station to another. And they were supposed to
put the stain, their finger all the way to at least above the, you know, the bottom of the nail
here. But then they, and they have to wait for a certain number of seconds, like 30 seconds or
20 seconds until it's dry. But then for the powerful one, they just put it a little bit and then
they clean it out and then they go to another station. The fourth one is that people have died
and they still, their name is still on the list and they find another replacement to vote for
that person. CNRP has seven specific goals. Goal number one is to help the elders who are 65 years
old and older, they can get $10 a month. And also the workers who work for the factory and the
government workers in Cambodia can be raised, their salary can be raised to $150 currently. It's
about $80 or $100. So we want the people to have a better life, those workers. And third,
the civil servants will get $250. So the people like so who work as a soldiers or police or the
teachers in Cambodia can get $250. Number four, the people get sick. They could not afford or
cannot afford to pay the bill. The CNRP government government that run by CNRP would provide free
health care to the sick citizens. Number five, the farmers, right currently the farmers could
not afford to be farmer anymore because their products has been sold to Vietnam or Thailand so
cheap that they cannot even pay the fertilizers or the gas that has been used to farm the land.
So as if CNRP government would purchase one kilogram of rice would be at least a thousand rear. And
number five, no number six, for the youth that would like to go to school currently if they
don't have the money, they wouldn't be able to go to school and find a job. But if it's CNRP win,
we would be able to provide equal in education and opportunity for looking for a job as well.
We will have the package to help youth who would like to continue education as like in a former
student loan where they can borrow and pay later after they find a job. And number seven,
the CNRP goal was to help reduce the rate of the money that loaned from from the bank. Currently
it's 36 percent. That's too much. So the people cannot live with that high interest. So that's
what I would like to help so that the poor will have a better life there. We need to have a new
government with the new CNRP seven point plans to eliminate the corruption, the dictatorship. And
that's why this year is so important. A message I want to send to the world that here as a human
being we need to help each other or someone who really need help. We are so lucky to live in
a free country like this. But there are so many people who really need help that they don't have
the basic freedom that they have, that we have. I also want to thank my wife for supporting me
in helping the kids when I was gone for two months. That's a lot of work for her working and
helping the kids.
