Volume 2 of the documentary series, Sail Vicarious, Year of the Refit.
In this DVD, we will cover a year's worth of work on our 1975 Fisher-37 motor sailor
to get her ready for our trip around the world.
We will cover everything from a completely new anchoring system to rewiring the entire boat.
Filming all the work, and with the addition of hundreds of pictures, you will get to experience
all that we went through along the way.
We never lost focus on our dream, to sail off to exotic places around the world, meeting
all kinds of interesting people along the way.
Chapter 1 covers two occasions of cruising to Cape Lookout, North Carolina.
The first that would present multiple problems, and a second, shortly thereafter, that went
much better.
Our plan was to do as much cruising as possible before refitting, so that we could figure
out exactly what we wanted to change.
Well, we learned the hard way that there were a few things that needed to be fixed immediately.
Chapter 2 goes into great detail on how we set up our new 10.5 foot inflatable dinghy,
along with its new 9.8 horsepower four stroke motor, and the other systems that went along
with that.
Chapter 3 covers our completely new anchoring system, that we hope will allow us to sleep
soundly at night in any anchorage throughout the world.
Chapter 4 covers the all new plumbing system, including fresh and salt water pumps, drainage,
hot water, wash downs, bilge pumps, propane, and much, much more.
I'll talk in detail about my bilge pump plan and why we have six different bilge pumps
aboard Vicarious.
Chapter 5 will cover a two week haulout, our first for Vicarious, and one that would present
some unpleasant surprises.
As much as we want to do all the work ourselves, there were times when we needed help with
some of the issues.
You said you would, no, no one said you could, you did it yourself, you did it anyway, anyway.
When it's time you've got to believe, you've got to follow through, no one else will make
it happen for you.
