Ok, let's get this thing going.
The beast is easy to set up and configure for your first time run.
Follow me tonight to launch your rig and get your shots live.
Make sure that your batteries are placed inside the dedicated compartment and properly connected
before starting the beast.
When you have your batteries inside and your camera is properly balanced, switch the main
power button located just below the pan-axis bar on the vertical arm.
The unit will perform a series of self-tests for few seconds and will initiate by positioning
the camera in neutral position.
Check if every axis is working properly and stabilizing by gently pushing various parts
of the unit.
It may happen that the unit will produce jitter or vibrations during the first time run.
Do not worry, that most likely means that the motor powers need adjustment.
First thing to do is to get to the performance menu and adjust the powers a bit.
If you experience some high frequency buzzing, that usually means that the powers are set
to high.
Try lowering them by a margin of 15-20% and check again.
If your unit struggles to keep the camera in place or has some low frequency oscillation,
that might mean that it does not have enough power to hold the payload of the camera and
in such case the powers require rising.
You may also use filter value of 33-66% if your setup is heavy and you still experience
some vibrations.
A good practice is to calibrate the gyro every few or so starts.
It is a very simple procedure, just choose the gyro calibration option in the performance
menu and allow the unit a few seconds to finish it.
Do not move the gimbal during the process and it will complete successfully.
You can also choose to do the gyro calibration at every startup, just disable the skip calibration
and startup option.
When you think that you have found good motor power values, you can pick up your unit and
give it a go, see how it performs.
Feel free to switch between follow and extended stabilisation modes via the follow menu to
familiarise yourself with this technology, you are ready to shoot.
If you are completely unsure where to start with the motor powers, try using the auto-tune
function which may help you find some good starting values.
