Every year my wife and I like to have a few of the companies over at a time we can just
get to know them a lot more personally and just have a few drinks outside and hang out.
We are at David's house and we have some drinks.
Nice to meet you.
He's a freak.
He's a freak.
Thank you guys.
Everyone brought something else.
Very nice.
We just four of us just walk here with us together.
Last year what we did is everyone here had to go and say something that everyone else
would not know about them.
I used to bus kids from my high school in Florida to SeaWorld.
I would serve lemon slushies out of a little stand wearing a shimmy costume.
I am a Trepeze artist.
It's funny what you learn about people.
Everybody has something surprising about them in their background.
Where's the rest of Gragher?
One's in San Francisco because his wife's doing like a week.
So every morning I get up and talk to Romania.
Our developers are on the other side of the world and so Skype connects us all day every
day.
It's like Skype on, I wish there was a way to make it look a little bit more exciting.
Gragher came four days early.
Four days early dude.
Yes.
I know.
Congratulations on the baby.
Well done.
Congratulations on the baby.
Congratulations on the sample.
So this is Jasper's second day in the world and he's doing great.
We're learning new stuff every day.
Your sleep schedule is more aligned with the Romanians now.
That's true.
He's really into the World Cup.
His favorite team is Argentina.
You can start a company with Noni and Lucie.
One thing that I've found is that there are certain things that you can control, a lot
of things that you can't control, but that all the things you can't control actually
make for a really interesting time because that's where the element of surprise comes
from.
Greg Cohen visited us again at Techstars.
I think it's his fourth time visiting and he helped the companies understand how they
could leverage Yahoo.
I flew in for a couple days from LA to visit with Techstars this year and see this year's
bumper crop of companies.
I personally think it's a great time to be reinventing traditional business models that
have a new life on the web and otherwise digitally enabled.
Greg Cohen from Yahoo is in another meeting right now.
We didn't get a meeting with Yahoo, but we want to introduce ourselves.
So I'm just going to run in before these guys and say hello.
Hey, how are you doing?
I'm Carlin.
I don't have a meeting with Omniar.
Oh, cool.
I just wanted to slip in and say hello.
What do you want to meet?
You want to meet?
Oh, yeah.
Holy shit.
I think Omniar is totally badass.
They're going to make the world 3D on the web.
It's cool.
If you have any questions, come get me afterwards and we can talk.
We'll definitely try to stay in touch and send you guys a lot of demos.
Okay.
Cool.
Great.
Thanks, guys.
It's a great feeling when you go into a meeting and everybody in the room gets really
excited about what you're doing.
Focus, move quickly, and don't be afraid to fail.
We are at Teen Cakes today buying cupcakes for tech stars.
As a local startup here in Boulder ourselves, we love to give back to the community, and
this is what we like to call Tweety Gives Back, and we're picking up cupcakes.
Whitty Twit and Heather Capri, famous Twitter celebrities, just brought over cupcakes for
our startups.
Very exciting.
I use one of their backgrounds on my Twitter.
I follow over.
Well, we're a fan of you guys.
It was a fantastic surprise.
We get a lot of visitors, but we don't get a lot of treats coming in like this, so we're
not getting grilled on our pitches right now.
They're actually just bringing something nice for us and give us a little bit of a break.
Thanks much for the cupcakes.
We really need the blood sugar raised around here.
What happens here stays here.
Don't tell David about that.
They always say nothing good ever happens after midnight, which is a lie, because here good
stuff happens after midnight.
Everybody here has this whole set of hidden talents that you don't really find out about
unless you get to know them, and really a lot of what this is about being here is about
helping each other.
We went out to lunch with Gearbox.
Say Omnion Gearbox.
Look, friends.
We're bonded.
I'm pretty impressed that we've already had meetings with Google, Microsoft, Facebook,
Yahoo.
Dig.
Dig as well.
Yeah, so that's pretty unbelievable.
I believe it.
Stop searching forever.
Happiness is right next to you.
Woo!
What's up, Megan?
I don't even notice she's there.
That's like, I was fantastic.
I mean, nothing's yourself.
I noticed.
Do you hear that?
Hmm?
Hmm?
Which?
Can I tweet this?
Yeah.
So now you're going to make me laugh.
Action.
Action.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Nicole.
Hey, Chewy.
How you doing, buddy?
