Hi, I'm Roger. I'm Erica. I'm Andrew. I'm Katherine. And together we are Highgave, a high-end
eyewear brand on a mission to eradicate trachoma by partnering with Sight Savers. Trachoma
is a disease that affects over 230 million people every single day, and yet it's one
of the most neglected diseases in the world. And it's a relatively small cost to cure,
and we thought a product you use almost every day, like a pair of sunglasses, is a good
way to draw attention to the cost. So we came up with the idea to design a high-end pair
of sunglasses to help create awareness and donate to Sight Savers. The sunglasses are
made in quite a lengthy process that involves over 30 steps, from raw material procurement
to polishing and painting, all the way to laser etching, assembly, and eventually quality
testing. We're really proud of the quality of our sunglasses. We use a full polarized
lens and the same construction materials as the high-end names. We have a full metal hinge,
and each temple has a metal rod running down the length, so they can be adjusted to fit
any head size. And each pair is hand-finished to ensure the highest quality. Because we're
working directly with the factory, we can offer you a product that you would normally
find blocked away in a glass case somewhere at a price that won't break the bank. We know
that Eyegave is a high-quality product because we've walked through the entire process from
the beginning to the end with the factory. We selected the lenses, the temples, the hinges,
and we did all of it with a lot of thought behind that selection process. And we live
in Vietnam. We're learning the language, and we chose the factory because of the relationship
that we made. We're able to visit onsite and see the whole process in person. We believe
that today's business environment is changing, and people are more and more excited about
a socially conscious product. People don't just want a high-quality product. They want
to know the story behind that product, why it was made, and the impact that it has. Every
pair you buy will provide sight-saving treatment for someone suffering from trachoma. But we're
not doctors. We're product designers. That's why we're leaving the important work of operating
on eyeballs and dispensing medicine to sight-savers. Sight-savers is a non-profit that does amazing
work in over 30 countries. They work to eliminate avoidable blindness from diseases like trachoma.
Changing lives for the long-term. And we're also excited that our product doesn't just
give towards a cause, but we created them in a way that's environmentally friendly. We've
used biodegradable acetate, which is an environmentally friendly type of plastic. So right now we
have samples that we're really happy with, but we need the funds from this campaign to
pay for that first production run so we can get the glasses to you and start making a
difference. Because there are over 230 million people at risk for trachoma around the world
and every pair of these you buy provides either one sight-saving surgery or medication for
treatment of up to 22 people, we clearly need your help to make a big impact. Thank you
for watching. If you have any questions or comments, please let them to the comments
page. We really hope you join us on our mission to eradicate trachoma.
