Well, hello everybody.
This is David Maizka from David Maizka Films and Red Deer City TV.
It is December 22nd.
What I want to talk about is a couple of tools for PCs.
As you can see, I'm on a PC today.
Normally I'm on a Mac or a Hackintosh.
Still a Windows 7.
It's a little bit older computer, so I just left it on Windows 7 and it does the job.
It's my PC workstation.
Alright.
What I want to talk about there is MLBFS for PC.
It's in raw video processing, and that's where you'll find that.
Now, for Windows right here, there's the Windows version right here.
And this is what you have to know.
You need to install pfmap and it basically mounts the MOV file system.
And then you have to download the MOVFS DLL, and then you have to register the DLL.
Here is the command to register that.
That is a very easy process.
I'll just show you quickly here.
I'll minimize this screen.
Once you've downloaded the DLL, what I did is I copied it to my root.
It's right there.
I guess you can probably put it to any other directory, but I just threw it to the root.
I'll put it to the start, and then type in cmd, and we want the command.
Okay.
And here we go.
To get to the root to register this, just go cd, space, dot, dot.
It's been a while since I did my DOS tools, so that'll bring me back to user, and do it one more time.
There's probably a way to do this, so I just, I can't remember at the moment.
Again, and that brings me back to the root.
Now, just open up here, and just take this command here, copy, and go to here, and open, paste, and then hit enter.
I've already registered, so I'll show you shortly here how very useful it is.
And there you go.
Registering format, movfs.dil.
Now the system's registered, and now we're one more step away from mounting the quick mount with movfs, the Cinnamon Dngs.
Okay, so close that, that's done.
And that's done.
Just minimize this here.
And I have some raw files here.
And then one other thing you need, if you don't have it installed already,
what you need is the Dng codec for Windows.
And I'm on 7, so I'll just go to Windows 7 at the moment.
And there it is, over there.
I'm screen capturing at the same time, so things may go slow.
Okay, so there it is.
You'll need this, and then just proceed to download.
And then you can read all the stuff, and blah blah blah, you know, all the rest.
Okay, so install that.
I have a mov file from my 5D Mark II, so you just right click.
Go to quick mount, and there we go.
Now there's the MLD file, so you can write Adobe sidecars, extensions, and such for Adobe.
You need something to write to.
There is your virtual directory.
I'm working on an SSD on my OS drive, so it's quite fast.
I recommend using the very fastest, grade 0 with normal spindle drives, or an SSD.
Alright, so now you can see that it's made an IDX file.
That is the information metadata if you want to wish of the file, so it can work.
So just double click on that, and there we go.
There's all our in Windows.
There's all our DNGs.
And then there's our audio.
And I'll just show you.
The audio is 16 bit, 48 hertz, 2 channel, 1400 kilobits per second.
Wave.
And of course, it gives you the right metadata.
It was 1920 by 600, so you can see.
And so it's kind of nice because you get all this information here.
The proper f-stop, the exposure, the ISO, all this is correct data.
And there's preview.
Okay, so yeah, that's the image.
And you can see a program name, MLVFS.
And the size, uncompressed.
So yes, it is uncompressed.
This is, there is some uncompressed, there is some compressed CinnamonDG applications out there at the moment.
This is not one of them.
And in Windows, it shows the proper metadata.
Which is kind of nice.
And yeah, there you go.
So now you have the same flexibility as on the Mac with MLVFS.
And now these will import properly into Resolve.
And I'll just open up Resolve.
I still have 11.
I've got the latest 12 yet.
Alright, there we are.
And there's our file.
So it completely, it loads some metadata.
Let me see here.
Alright.
And there we go, that's what I wanted.
Yeah, that's all correct.
It is data level, so just flip on that.
And everything else is okay.
And okay.
And then I just need the beautiful data from there.
There we go.
I thought there was any audio in there.
Don't save.
So now you can quick mount.
Check your file quickly.
You don't need to run another app, another program to, you know,
to view your file.
So that is one way.
And then from there you can take these into Resolve or Premiere Pro
and create a way and, yeah, so that's MOVFS for PC.
And there again.
It is in the raw video processing.
On the raw video, raw video processing and MOVFS.
Okay.
Now the other thing I want to talk about is people want to get away.
People want to try to get away from the Adobe Cinnamon D&G,
D&G workflow, trying to get rid of Adobe.
And this fellow here, AWPstar, this fellow has written a program
for PC called MOVProducer for Windows.
You can see it's quite popular.
It has a lot of reads on the thread.
And this is basically what it is.
It's an awesome program.
And basically what he's done is taking a program to produce
MOV and raw files and compress them to a video format
or TIFFS image sequence, or even we've convinced them
to put in Cinnamon D&G export on that too.
So we can bring your Cinnamon D&G's in, correct them.
You can use different deburring algorithms.
It's quite extensive.
You can add lots.
It's still in development, but I would say it's the tool to have.
And it is portable over to the Mac.
And that will be for another video.
Okay, so that's what that is.
And here are some of the things that it can do.
Now, there's the all downloads.
Here's the current one that's stable.
I suggest if you want the latest with all the Cinnamon D&G export
and all the latest.
Page 16 of the video, raw processing, raw video,
raw video processing that will be produced for Windows.
It's not a sticky yet, but I would imagine it should be pretty soon.
Okay, so here on reply 396 is the latest build.
And it's in a Dropbox and it is build 1944.
That's the latest one.
Cinnamon D&G export on it too.
Here it is right here.
There's our Cinnamon D&G generator.
FFmpeg is the compressor for video files.
There is your executable.
And this is where your output is.
You can change, I'll show you where you can change the output.
But this is where it defaults to.
All right, so let's fire it up and run it.
All right, there it is.
Now we'll just load a, first I'll load a.raw.
And I just have it to my desktop.
And the other one's still mounted, but you're not worried about that.
So this is our raw.
Just open.
There it is.
It's at 100%.
This is a 2K file.
Let's see here.
There it is right there.
2048 by 930.
23976, 1400 frames, etc.
So let's go back to here.
Now we can read through a bunch of things, but as we construct, there's new.
These are the different algorithms for D-Berry.
Your presets.
So you have, there's an Adobe RGB log, LXLog film.
So put in the right color space, whatever you like.
MOV producer film.
This is the fellows area.
There's Rec 2020.
And where I see this program doing very well is you can export a, you get an H.264 to wide gamut with the 2020 Rec space.
And you get a nice lovely file to work with in a compressed format, if you wish.
And there's a Rec 709, etc.
I usually leave it linear.
And then do my adjustments.
And then gamut correction.
You got your temperature, your preserve, highlights, auto, white temp, white, it's a little bit off.
There you go, it's a bit better.
And so it really rivals the ACR adjustment.
It really gives you a full width, a full width of the raw.
Now, this is not a calibrated monitor, but...
There we go.
It whites up.
And then of course you have your history ground there.
Okay, so now you got some filters.
So you got some noise reduction.
And so this is where some people need in their image.
And the only way to get good noise reduction is ACR in After Effects or Photoshop.
Or I guess those would be only two, I guess.
And I'll ask you to resolve, which has, and then, okay.
So now, your support for, that's, I don't have very much right now, or you can browse for some.
So I mean, yeah, that's a little bit too dark.
Oops.
There we go.
I said I'm screen capturing at the same time, so.
And then of course you have curves too, also.
So this is a real video production tool.
Once you get all the bugs out of it.
And I do believe there's a new version coming out here right soon.
And I think, yeah, it'll be an awesome tool.
Now, that's just the rest.
And of course, include the audio.
There's no audio here, so we don't do it.
But then you have your different, oops, sorry, your different exports.
H.264, this is all ffmpeg.
And then there's ProRes 444 ffmpeg, which is 10-bit.
If it's the Apple one, it would be 12-bit.
You're DNX, you're raw, TIF raw, or deflated, so which is compressed, H.264 common, 8-bit DNG, or DNG deflated.
So, yeah, then you can take that raw workflow and take that image
and continue on your merry way or make a compressed file.
As things go on, I would imagine this will be increased, hopefully.
Just extend out.
And you can explore this all yourself here, too.
So I just wanted to make you aware of everything.
Okay.
