Today we are breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest collage of cutout handprints.
The current record is 75,200 and we are going to break that.
Human kindness is at the heart of everything that we do and dignity health believes in the power of human kindness.
The most joyful part of this event is watching all of these amazing volunteers putting up these handprints.
Volunteers from Kids for Peace, children from our local elementary and junior high schools coming to place the handprints up,
employees, our volunteers, just watching them participate in this event to promote human kindness has been amazing and joyful for me.
I see the walls stuffed with handprints. When I saw it earlier it just looked like a whole bunch of spots covered with handprints.
A hand can express a lot of things like no bullying, don't do drugs, stuff like that.
Like flowers, some people even shaped it as a heart.
We collected handprints from students all over the country and other countries besides the United States.
We've collected over 180,000 handprints and each handprint symbolizes a student's commitment to kindness.
We say that they are each a kind hearted handprint.
Like flowers, some people even shaped it as a heart.
Like flowers, some people even shaped it as a heart.
I think it's amazing because the walls seen it from the beginning, from plain walls to this.
And I've actually even seen patients coming out of their room, going from not looking very happy to walking out and putting up a handprint.
It's been amazing to see the different sizes, the little kids, to the big kids. You can tell some kids spent a lot of time making the handprints really festive and getting across the kindness and the decorations.
Through today's event we're hoping to raise that awareness that if we can be kind towards one another it will be transforming and healing for communities as well as for our nation.
One of our core values is collaboration. What I see here today is our core value of collaboration being lived out.
We're collaborating with kids for peace. We're collaborating with children in the neighborhood to promote human kindness and we're so delighted to do that today.
It's going to make them feel joyful that they have peace in the hospital. Be kind to others and they'll be kind back.
Kindness, peace, love, be kind, make new friends.
I really couldn't believe that we could get this far.
The handprints have been tiny to large. They're full of messages of hope, encouragement, inspiration and kindness.
They are in other languages and the common thread is they are all a commitment to kindness.
Our grand total is 104,108.
So now we're going to measure this. We have our two measures just for good measure.
We have Clark and we have Scott. Watch them go.
The kids really are expressing themselves with all these handprints.
Gluing and pasting and gluing and pasting.
We can work together.
Small flowers and big flowers.
There's nothing the same as one.
104,108.
Kids for peace is so great.
More and more special, only one.
Peace.
