The Young Man, Young Carter and the Great Man are fresh, so what I want y'all out there to do for me is, say this, say go DJ, cause am I DJ?
Right here right now man, sitting in the house right now, when I say the house in the studio man, when you're boiling room, I go by the name of DJ Primetime.
It go a long way back, like I've been like musically inclined since like 5th, 6th grade, you know what I'm saying?
I got a couple cousins who used to DJ back in the early 90s or whatever, you know what I mean?
So I kind of, you know what I mean, emulate them, watch them do what they do, you know what I'm saying?
My brother's best friend Damien, you know what I'm saying? He's real heady right now in the west coast man, what's up funk dupe?
You know what I'm saying? I used to watch him all the time man, bringing the 12 inch cuts man, the speakers man, the crate, crate after crate.
I used to carry the man crate, you know what I'm saying?
You know what I mean? So I mean that's really what started really inspiring man, just to man like really enjoy seeing people, you know what I'm saying?
Having a good time.
Who are young gunner DJs?
Well, young gunner DJs, first of all, my sister, myself, DJ Case Will, DJ Slim the Nun, DJ Moed, DJ Nice Moed.
What we did was try to make an all-star team of DJs, of faith at City of Knoxville.
All of us have been DJing at Knoxville for a while.
We ran into each other, we DJed with each other, you know what I'm saying?
And basically it's a nice support team, you know what I mean?
Like I said, an all-star team based on what we've been doing in the past 3-4 years of Knoxville DJs.
So I mean about time that we felt like hey, we need to come and go, you know what I'm saying?
So we tried to make another DJ coalition, not a big DJ coalition, but a little small DJ coalition.
And I mean that's how we got started, like myself, I'm a core DJ.
I mean it's 10,000 core DJs, you know what I'm saying?
But I'm honored to say I'm a core DJ.
Swift is a hustle squad DJ.
So I mean we really wanted to take what we're a part of and break it down to a smaller part of simple.
So we can be able to, you know what I'm saying?
And one day expand to be as big as core DJs, expand to be as big as a hustle squad DJs and core listen DJs and what not.
Where I get the name prime?
First of all, those who do know me know my name is Dion.
My alter ego, you know what I'm saying?
Like Dion is really showed out, you know what I'm saying?
And as I was coming up and growing up, that's what I was just known to do.
Now, not stunning doing stupid stuff, you know what I mean?
Just showing out, you know what I mean?
The thing I did, I tried to show out with is dressing, you know what I'm saying?
School work, you know what I mean?
What kind of car I got?
You feel me?
And catch me with the jury game, whatever.
So that's really where the name prime came from.
Prime time, go back to Dion, I said, but go back a long time ago.
Because I mean everybody's been calling me prime.
The teachers was calling me prime.
People in the neighborhood called me prime just because my name was Dion.
So I mean I just ran with it.
Prime time, there it is.
Six years, like strong, you know what I mean?
I've actually been with music since like day one.
Everybody thought I was going to be rapping.
That's what everybody thought I was going to be doing.
Back in the schoolhouse, you know what I'm saying?
Like, I'll be freestyling, you know what I mean?
Me and my boy Bobby actually had a chance to sign with Big Room Records back in the 10th grade.
You know what I'm saying?
It just didn't fall through.
I made the transformation from, I guess, a freestyle rapper, a rapper, whatever, to DJ.
Because I really loved the music, you know what I'm saying?
I was always up on the music.
Newest music, you know what I'm saying?
Record and tapes, you know what I'm saying?
From the radio station, especially when I travel, you know what I'm saying?
Go see my cousins and down in Florida, you know what I'm saying?
Hit up Alabama and stuff.
I always come back with new music down in Arkansas.
So I like to shoot since I'm always up on the new music, you know what I'm saying?
I'm supposed to start working with stuff, you know what I mean?
So I really, that's how I just started DJing, you know what I'm saying?
Stop the love for the music.
It's down, man, my business is going to DJ Jazzy to me.
I'm just going to say the code is to me, you know what I'm saying?
I sat there and watched him and watched him on YouTube.
You know what I mean?
Just be like, man, this dude is cold from his skills to his music to how he is able just to pick a crowd
and take that crowd and take them to a whole nother level, you know what I mean?
A couple other DJs, man.
Of course, Jam Master Jay, man.
DJ AM, you know what I'm saying?
Grandmaster Flash.
I've actually been able to emulate Grandmaster Flash breakdown of the breaks.
So I've been able to do that, you know what I'm saying?
When I'm cocking you, you know what I'm saying?
We do it live, you know what I mean?
Some of the artists I work with, you know, a lot of people just sit with me, maybe a local.
I don't know, I don't care, you know what I'm saying?
It's cool.
But honestly, I do have a pretty extensive resume.

We're working on stuff right now.
I got some projects with some artists out of Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Chicago.

You know what I'm saying?
Definitely got to give them a shout out to man.
