In this video, we're going to discover how to set up our portfolio for our nursing program.
You need to go to the ALCA website, which is at alca.is, click the login link, enter
your username and password, click the login button.
When it defaults to your classes, you may very well have other classes that appear.
The one you want to click on is Nursing 6010.
Scroll down to the link DNP Portfolio Template and click on it.
You want to copy this template and make it your own.
I would of course get rid of the term template and copy and probably add your name to that.
In this case, I'm just going to put my and then you want to save it.
We need to go back and edit the portfolio.
To do this, we can go straight to this option and click edit portfolio, or we can click
on my DNP portfolio and edit the portfolio here.
We need to go to the assessments.
You need to click DNP Portfolio, the plus sign, and click to enable.
These identify the four rubrics that will be added to the rubric assessment to help track
the work that you do throughout your portfolio through the nursing program.
You need to add an evaluator, so you need to click Add Evaluator, you need to click
on staff and we need to add Patricia's name and check her name of course and then click
select one.
So you've identified Dr. Thompson as the person that will be facilitating your work
within your portfolio.
This is all you need to do with your assessments, at least on this page.
So we want to click the save button.
At the end of each semester, you'll want to turn in your portfolio and to do so you click
the turn in button and you can continue working with your portfolio for the next semester.
The rubrics we added, you can click the rubric, expand each of the rubrics and you'll be able
to see specifically what you need to make sure that you have accomplished for each of
the pages.
You won't get all of this work done for example for the first semester, by the end of the
nursing program all of your work will be accomplished through these rubrics.
So let's close the rubric.
We want to look at the first page introduction.
We need to start adding content to this page to do so, we click edit page and click the
content tab.
To add your name, phone, email and other information you need to activate this section.
So you click on it, it'll show up over here to the right and at the bottom on related
text you can enter your name, phone, email, address, city and zip.
So I'm just going to put my name and you can see how it appears over here on the right.
Anything you do here is displayed, I mean to the left.
So you can go ahead and add the rest of the information.
I might add this icon will show you how you can format your text if you so desired.
So I'm going to close this.
To change out the image you can grab your photo, drag and drop it into this area and
it'll switch out.
Of course you can also just click choose image and do it this way as well.
So that's how you add text and graphics to your portfolio.
You have two choices on what content you add under each section, in this case brief
biography.
You can actually switch out this text if you wanted to, in this case I want to add a file.
So I'm just going to delete this text and I'm going to drag my resume into this section
by activating this piece here.
And again I can drag and drop a file right here, it'll upload it.
You can modify the file if you wanted to as far as the name and I'm going to go ahead
and get rid of this text as well.
I'm just going to delete that and so we have our brief biography and I have the resume.
So you would do the same thing through each one of these sections.
So I'm going to go ahead and save this page to see what it looks like.
That's how you're able to modify the content within your portfolio pages.
You can click on this table of contents icon and that will take you back to your portfolio.
So this provides a quick overview of how to set up your portfolio and to begin adding
content to it.
