SAC is an environmental consulting company
that does environmental impact studies,
alternative environmental diagnostics,
interventions, environmental management,
social studies.
And HMB started the construction
of small hydroelectric power plants
in the east of Antioquia.
Then we formulated a management plan,
which was a compensation management plan
for the effect of forest coverings,
generating a biological corridor
along the Kokorna River.
But we didn't want the communities
to be affected by the biological corridor.
So the proposal was in the marginal areas,
where they cannot sow grass,
which is the traditional crop in that area,
nor can they have grass.
The biotic area programs
intend to reduce the effect of forests
and compensate in the case that they are affected.
For this, three programs are developed,
which are the flower rescue,
forest use and compensation.
We entered with a work team,
we rescued plants, seeds,
and even from the height the tree gave us,
we didn't take them to special neighborhoods,
which the same forest helps me with its do-it-yourself,
to live and take care of what I rescued.
And all that rescue process was done
along with the peasant communities.
So once you have done this rescue,
in the compensation areas of the corridor,
we begin to make the requirements
to find these species in those areas.
It has ended in an area
that has a high biological diversity.
There are many endemisms,
which means that there are species
that live only in this area.
So the project has been a very good opportunity
to get to know that diversity.
The conservation of the hands of the communities
is essential for the processes to take place in the long term.
And what we are thinking about in the future
and what we want to work on,
is that this can be declared a reserve
for the civil society.
And that this soundification
can be done with the peasant communities
that are settled there.
An area that is protected,
an area that will be maintained as a forest,
an area that will allow the diversity
of the areas to be maintained,
and a peasant community that can live
in this area.
This work that we have done,
is based on the concept that we are a team,
because everyone has to say
and we consider that this is a project
of restoration of areas,
of farms and forests,
from the knowledge.
It is a respect, a sum,
for the knowledge of the other.
Working with children is like
the best way to take the message
because it is already in the future of generations.
With children I think it is the hope
of achieving a change in environmental awareness.
And then we propose productive projects
so that people do not leave the area
and make a great recognition
that the natural system is as valuable
as the social system.
For me, both for my working colleagues
and for the community,
it is very important
this work that is being done
to preserve and contribute to the future.
These are works that leave marks
for many years.
We are achieving to reach that goal
and see one that if it is possible
to restore the areas that are degraded,
that they are re-colonized with fauna,
that we can live with protected areas,
that the investors of these projects
bet on conservation proposals,
that if it is possible to make that dialogue
of knowledge and that this will not
meet the development proposals
that the country has,
that it will be able to bring
back to conservation.
It is the sum of many efforts
and I would say that not only of many efforts,
it is of the convincing
and of the delivery
that this whole team of work
has put to this, both the technical team
and the community team.
The development projects
can be bet on conservation
and the local development.
Thank you.
